Hello! My name is Alexandra, I am 27 years old, and I currently live in San Diego, California. I was originally born on Maui and lived in San Diego and Seattle while growing up. Because of this, I thrive in new environments with lovely experiences and different faces. I relish in what being earthside has to offer us: Mother Gaia and all her glory, gaining understanding in all forms (of myself, my skills, and my place in this world), and connecting with beings from all walks of life. What better way to truly embrace and embody this gift of life than to travel with Workaway?
Those closest to me describe me as being earthy, kind, grounded, warm, friendly, and nurturing. I try to live my life tapped into my heart space as much as possible - Learning about healing modalities, or different teachings and insights is a very big passion of mine. I love and accept people for who they are, which makes it easy for me to get along with just about anyone. Having real, raw, but positive relationships (even when it gets tough) with those in my personal and professional spaces is highly important to me. I love working as a team, but when the work is done, I also enjoy "me time" and being able to go inward.
What interests me most about Workaway is living and working in community with others and being gifted a closer and more intimate insight to the land and culture that I would be apart of during my stay. Spending time communing with nature is also very important to me - the emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical benefit that has for us, and ultimately, the earth, is incredibly valuable. My dream is to create my own sustainable property one day so I would love to build my skills around that vision.
I have worked in hospitality for the last 10 years and have volunteered at soup kitchens and animal shelters throughout my life. I love spending time with children and animals. I receive a lot of fulfillment in helping a fellow being. I highly enjoy activities that involve being outdoors, especially gardening. I also may not be as versed, but am extremely interested in learning to build, child care, animal care, sustainable farming, and permaculture. I would be a very willing and hard-working student in those fields. I work hard and am open to many opportunities and would be happy to learn new skills or hone the ones i already have.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
I have worked customer service jobs as a restaurant host, waitress, receptionist, and in sales. I am definitely a people person and excel when I'm working with people, or in service to them.
I love to garden, and although I have never done it professionally, I would love to learn how to grow plants sustainably. I also am interested in learning and then teaching others how to leave less of a footprint in terms of waste and lifestyle. I may not have the skills yet, but I learn quickly, and do not complain a lot. Especially if I would be learning something new.
I've grown up with all types of animals around the house. Reptiles, rabbits, dogs, cats, birds, you name it. Therefore, I've also learned how to feed, care for, and provide a healthy home for these creatures. It feels good to take care of another living being, and I enjoy doing so. Again, I'm very open to all types of jobs and learning new things.
I am also open-minded to work doing cleaning, or building projects (I don't have much skill in this area but would love to learn), and teaching others anything that I could bring to the table.
