Beschreibung
Hi. I'm Outi from Finland. Just reached my retirement age and now at home in Finland. In late September heading to Indonesia, then to Thailand
and in December to Australia, very likely to Adelaide or Melbourne. To Tasmania in early January 2026.
I have been working for the humanitarian NGO for the last 30 years and now happy to have more time for myself. I like gardening, nature, animals and decoration such as painting walls. I'm pretty good in organizing many thing, whether kitchen cupboards or warehouse.
I often dream of sunbathing on the beach, but I get bored less than 10 minutes. I rather do something small. Thats why I find Work Away perfect for me.
In 2023 I joined the Trusted House sitting and took care of fur animals in two places in England and two in Portugal. Spring 2024 I spent 3 months in Australia doing mainly Work Away, but also two house sitting.
In Finland I did Pawshake, so I took care of cats and dogs in my own house during summer 2024.
September 2024 to April 2025 I travelled in Australia and New Zealand doing Work Away and Trusted House Sitting in both places.

I was the head of the volunteer center for ten years and had to deal with variety of different people, run small coffee place and op shop, organizing events and trips, writing reports and keeping accounts and most of all, supporting the clients, volunteers and long term unemployed people working in the center.
Last 20 years i have done puchacing for the international NGO.
Pretty good in many practical skills like painting.

It was a pleasure to have Outi - she is mature and sees what needs to be done. The garden on my roof was much improved after her mammoth effort there. She had a swim in the pool under the waterfall and really appreciated the natural surroundings. We had a Finnish heritage in common, plus I learned a lot about her African experiences.

Outi stayed for a short time, but left a remarkable positive attitude to helping me and enjoying my company. Gem is a word easily used to describe her.
