Hi! I am Emma, a travelling French.
I've been workawaying quite some time now (about 15 years) and it is for me the best way to travel, they're mostly my favourite memories of my wanderings.

I am traveling with my dog Cali. He's a Blue Lacy-- supposedly as he was found crying in the streets.
He's still young (about 2 years old) but listens. He almost always come back when called. Almost...! But learning quick and he's sociable, super adaptable.

I am also friendly and sociable, love to meet new people and my curiosity is rarely satisfied enough.
I like to spend time with the hosts and the community and location around them. It's always a good chance to get to know new people, customs and surroundings. Though I also know how to entertain myself and am happy to spend time alone.

As I've always been doing physical work and love hiking, I am very fit.

My main focus for the time on the planet is to help however I can all beings.

I've worked in numerous farms (merino, dairy, pig, orchards...), hotel maintenance and renos, hospitality and can manage anything required (any realistic thing required). I've been a housekeeping manager for about a year in a remote off-grid lodge. I've also tended to a lodge in NWT in Canada for quite some time. Therefore, I'm pretty familiar with keeping a place running in extreme weather conditions (Maintenance and tourism aspects). There, I also got the chance to be a carpenter hand.

Throughout my other experiences, I have taken care of horses and many other animals. I can drive different kinds of machines like tractors, bobcats and more, as well as having experience with power tools.

I am good with languages: I obviously speak French, am fluent in English and manage my way around in Spanish. I've got a Japanese bachelor. I LOVE birds and photography, which is a good combo. My hobbies also count video editing and drawing.

Alongside working in a scuba dive centre, I got my rescue diver certification.

Dante is a dive master. As for Emma, she is a rescue diver.

We love the outdoors and working outside. Having a chat around a camp fire by a river/lake is an example of something we enjoy doing quite a lot!

Walking in nature and observing the rest of the animals and plants is one of our favorite activities so it won't be a coincidence if you get a message from us if your place reassembles a natural setting.

We have been doing workaways in many continents for many many years along with volunteering through other platforms and means, so this is for us part of our lives and not something we use just to get free accommodation.

Emma & Dante stayed with us for three weeks in Nov/Dec 2024. From the first day they arrived they brought good energy and positive attitudes. They blended in and adapted perfectly to the rhythm of our lives. On the first night, as we chatted getting to know each other, Dante asked if he could take a look at my phone which had stopped taking a … read more charge 3 days previously. He asked for a needle, cotton wool & alcohol. As we chatted, he patiently and diligently went about cleaning the repairing the phone and the next day it was working perfectly! We were majorly impressed and my kids then asked if could fix their PlayStation...and of course, he was able to fix their PlayStation and brought so much joy to my kids as a result. Dante did not stop there. He took the time to demonstrate to the boys how to disassemble and reassemble the controllers, how to clean and maintain them. I am very grateful to Dante for taking the time to do this as it is an important lesson he was trying to impart. 1. for things to last you need to take care of them and 2. If something breaks, you should also try to fix it first. In todays consumerist society, when something breaks out of warranty, we often just spend money to replace it instead of trying to fix it. Dante is good at fixing things and he has inspired me to always make an effort to fix things, to trouble shoot the problem and try to resolve it. I hope my kids picked this up from him too.

Emma and Dante work together as a wonderful team. They are autonomous and hard working. The main project they were responsible for was a important section of fencing, 400ft long, on a steep slope with a lot of obstacles such as bamboo clumps and trees. They cleared the fence line, dug the post holes, mixed the concrete, set the posts, hung the chain-link fence and in addition created two flights of steps with a gate on the fence line for pedestrian access. It was very impressive to see how the pair worked together to complete the project.

As a family, we became very fond of Emma & Dante. We very much enjoyed hanging out with them in the evenings chatting, baking, cooking and eating meals together.

Emma & Dante: we are so very grateful to you both for the time, effort & energy you gave to us. We especially thank you for spending time with our children, we know they are going to miss you big time and we thank you on their behalf too, (your gift to Alannah was so very thoughtful). We should also mention how caring and compassionate you both were towards our three dogs. We know they are also going to miss you terribly. You were so generous with your affection towards them. We also love how curious and respectful you are towards all of the other wildlife, birds and insects that we share the land with. We really appreciate you both, such wonderful, kind human beings. We hope you come back to visit us some day in the future - you will always be welcome in our home. We wish you a safe onward journey as your travel and adventure continues.

What a wonderful place to be doing a workaway and cultural exchange. Regi was very kind and generous and I got to stay my 5 weeks in a fully equipped old school trailer that could easily accommodate two people comfortably so I had plenty of personal space! Thanks for that!
