We are Daycia & Bryan!

Hi there! ☀️ I’m Daycia or Day! I am a professional photographer and video creator from the U.S. After living and teaching English in Korea for three years, I had planned to start my Workaway journey in 2020, but like many, life had other plans. Now in 2025, I’m finally returning to the adventure, this time with my husband by my side!

My love for travel took off when I moved to Japan to study abroad in 2012. I was instantly hooked, meeting people from all over the world, learning about different cultures, and stepping into a whole new way of life!

I have several years of experience teaching children both in the U.S. and abroad. I'm certified in organic vegetable gardening and currently completing a 100-hour Permaculture Design course.

My focus is on community building and growing together, so whether I’m helping in the garden, creating social media content, taking pictures, teaching English, or supporting events, I love contributing to meaningful projects that align with sustainability, children, creativity, and connection!

Aloha! 🌺 I’m Bryan, a professional chef from Hawaii specializing in Hawaiian, Asian, and plant-based cuisine. I have a deep love for creating delicious, nourishing meals that make people feel good. My passion for cooking began in high school after a friendly bet with a friend, and I’ve been in the kitchen ever since.

I’ve worked in a variety of restaurants across Houston and developed a cooking style that’s all about flavor, balance, and joy. I love sharing recipes, cooking for others, and learning about ingredients from different cultures. Outside the kitchen, you’ll usually find me hiking, spending time with my dog, and connecting with nature. As someone from Hawaii, I also enjoy sharing Hawaiian culture with others. I'm really looking forward to having meaningful conversations and meeting new friends!

We value personal growth, community, and meaningful connections with people from all over the world.

We decided to start our journey in Japan, a place that feels familiar to us. I, Daycia, speak some Japanese, which makes it a great starting point! From here, we hope to travel across Asia, Korea (where I've lived for 3 years), Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and more!

After that, we’d love to make our way to New Zealand, Africa, and Europe! We’re so excited to connect with people along the way.

To us, community is essential for human connection and thriving. Through our travels, we hope to build deep relationships and contribute by sharing our skills in content creation, photography, gardening, cooking, and more! (:
