We both absolutley loved it at this project! Diego has created an amazing place here which has inspired us both so much. It is amazing the impact a small number of people can have! The work was enjoyable and diverse, with lots of different areas covered. The lessons were phenomenal! Well thought-out, interesting and extremely thought-provoking. The accomodation was comfortable and in such a gorgeous setting in the jungle, with lovely areas to hang out after work. The project also attracts lovely people and there were lots of interesting conversations. The cats are extremely friendly, you will fall in love with them! Overall, if you get a chance to visit here, take it!

Juul! What an awesome inspiration and fabulous motivator she has been !! Always “Ready to Rumble ,“ It was so fun to share my friends, land, animals, work and life with her! Her time with us here has been such a blessing 🎉🤠🎶💃🏻 and a celebration! It was such a treat to share her with my community. Tackling the most mundane and challenging jobs, even when I was resistant!! She kicked my butt , it was so satisfying to work with her. We got a lot done!! Thank you for all the internet help. We had so many laughs together!! I am eternally grateful, she is an asset wherever she goes.

Our 5-week stay with Ilana and Greg was simply unforgettable. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed into their beautiful log house in the Yukon wilderness. We had our own cozy apartment with bathroom, shower and kitchen on the ground floor, and the surroundings were absolutely breathtaking – endless nature all around, no neighbors within 5 km or more, and Whitehorse about 50 minutes away. Whenever needed, we could use their truck to go shopping or run small errands, which gave us a lot of freedom. Ilana and Greg are not only kind and generous, but also highly educated and open-minded people. Every day we enjoyed interesting and inspiring conversations with them. They live together with 24 wonderful sled dogs (actually 11 indoors, 13 outdoors), who are truly at the heart of this place. For anyone who worries about sled dog welfare: this is the best possible life a dog could dream of. The dogs are deeply loved and cared for as family members, with plenty of space to play and run. Training is not forced but rather pure joy – we witnessed their excitement in September when preparing for the winter season: barking, jumping, trembling with anticipation, just waiting to run. Older dogs are gently retired and live inside the house as “seniors,” enjoying a well-deserved, happy retirement. Daily walks with different dogs were another highlight, combining nature, exercise, and great talks. Our daily routine was very relaxed: usually feeding and taking care of the dogs around 8am (taking 30–45 minutes), walking them all together at 4pm, and feeding again afterward. The rest of the day was mostly free for us to enjoy. Occasionally we helped with small extra tasks like bringing recycling, mowing the lawn, or painting a balcony – not out of obligation, but because we truly felt like part of the household community and wanted to give something back for the kindness and hospitality we experienced. At the same time, the private apartment we had downstairs offered us plenty of privacy, which we really appreciated after several months of travelling. The work with the dogs quickly became less like “work” and more like spending time with friends. After 5 weeks, saying goodbye was truly hard – not only to Ilana and Greg, but also to the 24 amazing dogs, each with their own unique and lovable personality. If you are looking for nature, peace, kind and interesting hosts, and the joy of living and working with sled dogs – this place is absolutely perfect. We couldn’t have wished for a better experience.

Durante una semana tuvimos el placer de convivir con ellos para trabajar nuestras tierras, de contagiarnos con su buena energía y aprender de sus habilidades. Destacar que son personas muy polifacéticas, con excelente comunicación, que se implican muchísimo por aprender del entorno en el que están y sobre todo.. son bellas personas. For a week, we had the pleasure of living alongside them, working on our land, sharing in their wonderful energy, and learning from their skills. I want to highlight that they are truly versatile people, with excellent communication, a strong willingness to learn from the environment they’re in, and above all… they are beautiful souls. We hope our paths cross again. Thank you so much, guys!

Beate is the most delightful young woman. She cheerfully did her work, was interested and made helpful suggestions and was a pleasure to host. She is personable and friendly and great company. I would highly recommend her.

We stayed eight days with Francis and Yufu. We learned how to build a stone wall as well as an ancestral technique for lightly burning wooden planks so that they last over time. We also moved wood, chopped logs, weeded, removed nails... Francis gives a lot of freedom, so you need to enjoy carrying out tasks independently. We had many conversations during meals about their passion for cooking, and we cooked together several times, which was very instructive. Each meal was more delicious than the last. Yufu and Francis turned out to be extremely attentive and caring toward us. We thank them again for that. In the village, there is an onsen (700 yen) as well as a brewery (unbelievable but true!) run by a very kind couple where you can also eat (and it’s very good). A river flows at the foot of the house, and after a busy morning, it’s a real pleasure to go cool off there. There are local buses that can take you to some restaurants and cafés (also very good). This experience was therefore full of learning and allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture.

I'm so lucky that Julie's home is my starting point of gap years , I feel like I'm at home here! After daily work , Julie gave me a lot of recommendations so that I can experience local life , just took a walk under sunshine, also nerby public transportation to explore Melbourne . I really enjoyed my time in the comfortable house ✨

Totalmente agradecido por esta gran experiencia en Salaverry, pueblo fundado en nombre de mis ancestros, un lugar que me trajo impresionantes descubrimientos y reflexiones! Un pueblo de total unión, prospero trabajo, paz y buenas vibras. Primeramente estaré eternamente agradecido con Shegu y todo el equipo, por su gran iniciativa de colaboración y sobretodo por su templanza para obrar. He podido dar clases grupales de inglés de manera continua, en un gran espacio y a excelentes personas. La calidad de buenas personas que forman parte es admirable. La bondad y la calma se destaca en cada uno. También colaboré con estrategias e ideas, y en la mejora de algunas áreas de la infraestructura digital. La organización funciona de manera armoniosa y coordinada en equipo, el espacio es excelente y cuenta con todo lo necesario. Sin dudas seguirán creciendo a futuro por que los cimientos están muy bien establecidos. Personalmente les deseo el mayor de los éxitos, todas las bendiciones y gracias posibles!!

Akino's cultural exchange home was above and beyond my hopes and dreams! Everybody is so welcoming and I felt so safe. I will definitely be going back as often as I can. There were countless wonderful women and children who all spoke great English. We went on a very exciting day trip where we cooked food on hot spring steam & enjoyed the natural foot baths. I loved learning about new foods & practicing my Japanese. It was even cool to meet the other workawayers from Europe. I've made some really great friends thanks to this workaway experience, and I'm so excited to see them all again someday :)

Fabio was our first workawayer and I don‘t know where to begin. He is super motivated, had always a solution for every problem and worked so hard. Love his sense of humour, his honesty, views on life, we had conversations about everything and it was never boring. Fabio has become part of our little family here, made of friends and animals and everyone loved him. I had an amazing time here! I didn't expect such a wonderful experience. Although I only stayed for three weeks, I was able to do so many things. Lia has a beautiful garden, and I helped her pick up vegetables, cook, and make sauce. Those moments were so peaceful. I also enjoyed a variety of activities. Their family invited me to a birthday party, volleyball games, and barbecues, which made me feel like part of the family. Lia arranged my work schedule so I could visit many places, including Ottawa and Montreal, and even go shopping! This was my first Workaway experience, and I truly believe they are the best host family. They are incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming. My stay felt like a dream and will always be a treasured my memory. Thank you so much for everything.

I had a great experience at this work away. I highly recommend it to all workawayers. The space that is provided is very nice and clean, and the work is very reasonable and clear. This is truly an ideal workaway for a shorter or more long term stay. Everyone I met was very nice and genuine, all with their own perspectives and traits to offer. It is a relaxed environment where you can learn a great deal about Buddhism and an incredible way of life. I will always remember my time here and appreciate all who were involved in making it so special and peaceful. Thank you for having me!

I had such a lovely time at Stephanie's. We had some great talks, started to build a shed and those two dogs are just adorable:) Stephanie is a very inspiring women, she does kinda everything by herself and she does make one of the best Pavlova (hers is the first I tried, but it must be one of the best)

Carly has brought joy and laughter over the past fortnight that she's stayed. Constantly positive and enthusiastic, she's a great person to have around. Her maturity and life experience have no doubt lead to the calmness that she conveys. She and fellow Workawayer Lena provided a wide range of help, including cleaning the windows of the house, potting up, taking cuttings, shifting part of the plant nursery, weed control, moving forest slash and planting flaxes. Carly quickly developed a fascination of the growing/permaculture realm and left with a commitment that she wants to do the same for herself. Her close interest made her stay all the better. I commend Carly to other potential hosts and sincerely hope she has the opportunity to experience sustainability/permaculture projects in more tropical climates that are closer to Hawain conditions. Thanks for your help Carly - looking forward to remaining in touch

We really enjoyed having Ahmed volunteer with us on the farm. He's a happy, easy-going, and very interesting guy to have around. He was willing to try a variety of different jobs and such an interesting person to get to know. It's great to spend time with an open-minded, person with lots of ideas to explore and discuss. He fit himself into our routine easily and was always pleasant to be with. I definitely recommend him as a volunteer in your project.

Nicole is absolutely lovely, quiet and smart, with a sharp wit😊 She worked hard for us and took advantage of lots of our local music festivals. Nicole is easy to live with and always shared meals with us. Part of the family 🙂 Thanks for all your help!
