What was supposed to be just my first Workaway ended up being one of the most incredible experiences of my life, these two months in Santo Domingo flew by and leaving is much harder than I expected. I met an unbelievable number of amazing people from all over the world, made friendships I'll never forget, and created memories that will stay with me forever. On top of that, I had the chance to discover the Dominican Republic, a beautiful country full of energy, warmth, and wonderful people. A huge thank you to Chris for always being supportive, clear, and helpful from day one. I also really enjoyed all the sports, conversations, and good times we shared together. A special thanks to Alessandro and Franco, who shared this whole adventure with me from beginning to end, you guys made these two months even more special. Thanks as well to Claudia, Thibaud, and Lucy for all the laughs and great moments along the way. Of course, thank you to Alba, Diana, and Fiquere for your kindness and for always making everyone feel welcome and at home. Last but definitely not least, a big hug to Hamilton! I couldn't recommend this experience more, if you're thinking about doing a Workaway, just do it. For me it was so much more than volunteering, it was an unforgettable adventure full of incredible people, personal growth, and memories I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you all for making these two months so special, I already miss this place and I'll surely come back soon!

We had a short stay at the farm of Jorunn and Geir and enjoyed every minute of it. We felt very welcome and loved the chats during the meals. For us, it was part of a bigger trip and this was an excellent way to meet Norwegians and understand more of the history and culture. The meals were great, the work was good, physical farm work (expect some animal shit, of course!) and the hours were more than fair. Thank you, dear Jorunn and Geir, for the lovely couple days!

Anne Sophie est une personne très sympathique, joviale, ouverte et fiable. Elle est travailleuse. Dès le premier jour, elle a eu envie de se mettre à la tâche, d’apprendre et de faire. Elle a participé à bien des travaux, aidé dans le jardin pour nettoyer, planter, sarcler, débroussailler, semer, couper des ronces, etc… Elle est pratique, anticipe et voit le travail. Son envie de bien faire, sa bonne volonté, sa bonne humeur sont vraiment des atouts. Il fait bon travailler avec elle. Elle a participé aux différentes tâches de la maison très naturellement. C’est une bonne personne. Elle est de bonne volonté. Elle aime parler, échanger et apprécie les repas. Elle est très fière d’être du Manitoba du Canada. Nous regrettons qu’elle ne soit restée qu’une seule semaine. Merci Anne Sophie.

Very nice experience, super friendly , polite , open, flexible and structured. I got to know big part of their family and share lunch and coffee and chats with all of them. Nice , warm , understanding and good cooks! Lovely stayng a month! Hope to see them again! Highly reccomend!

My time in BC was an experience I'll never forget. At first, it was honestly pretty scary. Being somewhere new, away from what was familiar, took some adjusting. But once I settled in and found my routine, it became a place that felt peaceful and comforting. One of the things I'll miss the most is sleeping with my buddy Buster. He brought so much comfort and companionship, and I'll always cherish those moments. I'll also miss all of the other dogs and their crazy personalities that made every day interesting and entertaining. The animals became such a big part of my experience. I loved the pigs dearly and grew very attached to them. (Don’t if you’re going near august) . I'll miss spending time with the horses, chickens and silly ducks as well. Being surrounded by animals every day brought a sense of peace that is hard to describe. The work itself was calm and enjoyable. It felt meaningful without being overwhelming, and I appreciated the slower pace and peaceful environment. You could also pick up tasks that need to be done , just look around be creative. More importantly, Shannon genuinely cared. She made sure we had what we needed and looked out for us. Like any two people spending a lot of time together, we butted heads here and there, but there was never anything we couldn't work through. We always found a way to communicate and move forward. And when Jeff was home from work he would chefff it up, making delicious meals effortlessly. I’ll miss his chicken wings! Looking back, BC became much more than just a place I stayed. It became a place filled with memories, lessons, friendships, and people and animals that I'll carry with me for a long time. While I'm grateful for what's ahead, I'll always miss the peace, the animals, Buster, Shannon and Jeff, my German friends, and the time I spent there. Look forward to going back ! Miss you all ♥️🥹

I was lucky enough to stay in Paal for 6 weeks with Angelika and the sweetest dog Pete, and I couldn’t be more grateful and appreciative for my time there. The nerves I felt travelling alone and with using Workaway for the first time quickly went away when I met Angelika. I’ve never felt so welcome and accepted in a foreign place; she embraced my presence and treated me like family. I never once felt homesick during the duration of my stay because she made me feel completely at home. I have learned so much, not only through daily routines, but also through our conversations, shared meals, and the opportunity to experience life in such a beautiful and peaceful place. Angelika’s kindness, generosity and warm spirit made this an experience that I will always cherish. I couldn’t recommend staying with her more highly, and I hope our paths cross again in the future!

My stay was amazing. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcome and at home. Litsa is such a kind, passionate, funny and caring person — a truly inspiring human being to get to know. ❤️ Her dedication to animals is deeply admirable and genuinely contagious. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned so much about caring for cats during my time there. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. I will always be grateful for everything I learned and for the warm welcome I received.

Tania es una persona muy inteligente, con mucho sentido común y con un bagaje cultural y social impresionante. Hemos compartido una semana pero que han parecido varios meses ya que ha sido una conexión muy bonita y agradable. Nos ha encantado compartir planes con ella, ha sabido apreciar muy bien el ritmo de nuestra familia y ha conectado muy bien con nuestras peques. Sin duda, una hermosa nueva amistad. ¡Gracias!

It was a real pleasure to host Elena on the farm for these five days. She’s great fun to have around. full of good energy and laughter, and she fit right into the rhythm of life on the farm from day one. She was also wonderful with the animals, gentle and attentive, which means a lot to us here. On top of that, she was organized and responsible throughout, taking initiative without needing to be asked twice. the kind of volunteer that makes hosting genuinely easy. Five days felt short, and we truly hope to see her back here soon. Highly recommended to any host. Gracias por todo! 🖤

Lovely guy very helpful and respectful

J’ai passé un séjour incroyable avec Myriam et Charles à leur chalet dans les montagnes. Ils sont les deux si gentils. Le partage de repas toujours délicieux, fait maison et frais du jardin, passé en bonne compagnie de conversations intéressantes et de leurs esprits ouverts. Les voisins sont aussi souvent passés pour partager des repas et dire bonjour. Je me suis toujours sentie la bienvenue et à l’aise. Pour ce qui est du travail, j’ai aidé dans le jardin à planter et désherber, couper l’herbe et des plantes dans la cour... et plusieurs autres petits projets. J'ai appris beaucoup au sujet du jardinage bio qui était super aussi! Du travail bien varié et toujours sous une direction claire, encourageante et flexible. Pour ce qui est de l’après-midi et des soirées, il y a beaucoup de temps pour relaxer, mais aussi il y a plusieurs randonnées et villages à explorer aux alentours! Je recommanderais à 100% cet endroit! Un gros merci de m’avoir accueilli à bras ouverts et de me partager vos connaissances et votre culture Suisse! :)

Thank you so much to David and Fien! I had a grate time with them during the 3 weeks I spent in Netherlands. The house, the the room and the garden/forest are really nice, I felt very comfortable in their place. The work was allways good and I could learn and practice lot's of new things! Also the food was good and allways enaugh. Highly recomended if you're looking to spend some time in a relaxed enviroment where you can feel comfortable and do nice jobs outdoors. They are also very interesting people and have lot of experiences to share, so that's a plus if you appreciate a good conversation :)

Raul and Mario are both lovely people. And so are all their friends. They have created a wonderful home. I felt super relaxed and welcomed. I was mainly helping with cleaning and painting a mural for the bedroom ✨ all the cats and dogs are gentle and sweet. Thanks again for everything 🙂

I spent 2 weeks at Nergui's home in Khatgal in June 2026. Nergui, her husband Ganaa and their two kids Sodoo and T were incredibly warm, friendly and kind and always tendered to any needs I had. I stayed in Nergui's guesthouse cabin which I had all to myself which was very comfortable. I was tasked with practicing English with both T and Sodoo for around 2 hours a day (although I hardly felt they needed it considering how fluent they already are), as well as teaching English conversation classes to a group of local kids too for another 2 hours a day. It was a little bit daunting at first as I had never taught English before, but I quickly adjusted and Nergui was always there to help and support. I always had a lot of free time throughout my days which gave me time to explore the town and lake, Nergui even took me hiking with the kids at one stage. While meals aren't provided, Nergui would still feed me very generously here and there and would freely let me use her coffee machine. Overall I had a very pleasant and memorable time, and I hope to see you guys again some time!

Japan arrived to our home with Kumiko and Naoya. We learnt a lot with both of them about language, culture and cooking. They have always the best mood and are grateful for every single thing. We got two good friends in the opposite side of the world. Arigato gozaimasu Kumiko to Naoya!!

Hello!! My partner Daian and I stayed at Carol, Dan, and Jimmy’s lovely apartment. We didn’t have much time to spend together because we were taking care of their home and their dog while they were away. Even so, they were both very kind and welcoming. They have a wonderful energy and made us feel at home from the very beginning. They welcomed us with a delicious dinner and gave us helpful advice, as we had just arrived in Germany. The room is very beautiful and comfortable. Jimmy is truly a loving and affectionate dog, and we became very attached to him. We took him for walks every day, played with him, spent time together, and even slept together. He has so much energy and such a sweet personality. Thank you for trusting us with your home and with Jimmy. We know how important he is to you, and it was a pleasure to take care of him. We wish you all the best and hope to see you again someday!

My time staying at Marco's place was an experience I will never forget. If you are looking for a remote, peaceful place surrounded by nature, this is the absolute best spot. Even though it is off-grid, the place is well-equipped, including a surprisingly good internet connection. It’s incredibly quiet, allowing you to truly disconnect and work on your own terms. I was looking after the house and his sweet cat, Lara. Earning her trust was incredibly special — she would come sleep next to me, and her affection brought me so much warmth and peace when I really needed it. Marco himself is a very laid-back, easy-going, and deeply empathetic person. During my stay, I faced a very tough and unexpected personal crisis. He went far above and beyond what anyone would normally expect from a host. He provided immense support, genuine care, and absolute humanity, even going out of his way to help me with transportation during a critical moment. I highly recommend Marco and his beautiful place to any Workawayer. Thank you for everything.

We would like to thank Nicole and Willem for such a warm and hospitable experience. We truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated their friendly communication and the opportunity to work together on developing their beautiful garden. During our time with them, we had the chance to explore Berlin, learn more about gardening, exchange ideas, and share valuable cultural and social experiences. It was especially thoughtful of them to visit us while we were selling our artwork at the Flohmarkt, and we really appreciated their support and encouragement. Our accommodation was very comfortable, and it was a pleasure to be welcomed into their home and share a small part of their lives. We are grateful for their kindness and generosity, and we wish them and their family all the very best with their future projects and adventures!

Andrés es un tipo excepcional, lleno de energía y muy simpático. El trabajo que hay que hacer es variado e interesante para cualquiera a quien le guste estar al aire libre, trabajar con las manos y en contacto con la naturaleza. Tanto para descubrir nuevas habilidades y técnicas de trabajo como para estar en contacto con gente estupenda y aislarse en un lugar maravilloso en plena naturaleza, ¡recomendaría a Andrés y su finca a cualquiera!
