  The place was founded in 2013 to provide educational opportunities and social support to children, teenagers, and families living in vulnerable situations. Our community school is located in La Esperanza, Trujillo, one of the city's most disadvantaged districts.
  
  We provide a safe and welcoming environment where children aged 3 to 15 can learn, build confidence, and develop their full potential. Through education, health, nutrition, and family support programs, we aim to reduce educational inequalities and create better opportunities for the community.

  nació en 2013 con el propósito de brindar oportunidades educativas a niños, adolescentes y familias en situación de vulnerabilidad. Nuestra escuela comunitaria está ubicada en el distrito de La Esperanza, Trujillo, una zona con altos índices de pobreza y exclusión social.
  
  Trabajamos para ofrecer un espacio seguro donde niños de 3 a 15 años puedan aprender, fortalecer sus habilidades y desarrollar su potencial. A través de programas de educación, salud, nutrición y acompañamiento familiar, buscamos reducir las brechas educativas y promover una mejor calidad de vida para nuestra comunidad.

  Volunteer Activities
  
  This is a Community Learning Center that provides educational support and guidance to children and teenagers from vulnerable backgrounds.
  
  Most of our students attend public schools. Children who go to school in the morning come to this place in the afternoon, while those who attend school in the afternoon receive educational support in the morning. We also work with a small group of children who, for various reasons, are not currently attending school.
  
  Throughout the year, we work with the following groups:
  
  Children aged 4–6 years.
  Children aged 6–8 years.
  Children aged 9–13 years.
  Early Stimulation Program (0–3 years old).
  Program for children and young people with disabilities.
  
  From January to March, during Peru's summer holidays, we welcome a larger number of children. In addition to academic support, we offer more dynamic and recreational activities, with extra English and computer classes.
  
  Educational Support
  
  Activities take place Monday to Friday, with both morning and afternoon sessions.
  
  Volunteers may choose to work either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on their availability and preferences. It is not mandatory to work both shifts. Volunteers who wish to help in both sessions are welcome to do so on a voluntary basis and in coordination with the Hilo Rojo team.
  
  The main subjects we support are:
  
  Reading and writing.
  Mathematics.
  English.
  Computer skills.
  
  You do not need to be a qualified teacher. We are looking for people with initiative, patience, creativity, and a genuine desire to work with children.
  
  Volunteers prepare and lead their own activities with the support of our local team. Our social worker accompanies volunteers on home visits to help them better understand each family's situation, while our psychologist provides guidance when working with children in the Early Stimulation and Special Education programs.
  
  English Teaching
  
  From March to December, we runs an English teaching program in partnership with local public schools. Many of the students who attend these schools also participate in our Community Learning Center, allowing us to support their learning both at school and here
  
  Workshops
  
  We encourage volunteers to share their knowledge, skills, and talents. You are welcome to organize workshops in music, sports, arts, crafts, cooking, dance, photography, technology, science, or any other educational, cultural, or recreational activity that could benefit our children. We are always open to new ideas.
  
  Communications and Coordination
  
  If you have experience in communications, photography, videography, graphic design, or social media management, you can also support us by helping promote our work and keep our website up to date.
  
  Volunteers with experience in leadership or team coordination are also welcome to join our coordination team and assist with volunteer management and the organization of activities.
  
  Recommended minimum stay: 2 weeks.

  Actividades para los voluntarios
  
  - es un Centro de Aprendizaje Comunitario que brinda refuerzo escolar y acompañamiento a niños y adolescentes en situación de vulnerabilidad.
  
  La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes asisten a escuelas públicas. Los niños que estudian por la mañana vienen a - por la tarde, mientras que quienes estudian por la tarde reciben apoyo por la mañana. También atendemos a un pequeño grupo de niños que, por diferentes circunstancias, no asisten al sistema educativo.
  
  Durante el año trabajamos con los siguientes grupos:
  
  Niños de 4 a 6 años.
  Niños de 6 a 8 años.
  Niños de 9 a 13 años.
  Programa de Estimulación Temprana (0 a 3 años).
  Programa para niños y jóvenes con habilidades especiales.
  
  Entre enero y marzo, durante las vacaciones de verano en Perú, desarrollamos un programa especial con un mayor número de niños. Además del refuerzo educativo, realizamos actividades más dinámicas y recreativas, incrementando las clases de inglés y computación.
  
  Apoyo educativo
  
  Las actividades se realizan de lunes a viernes, en horario de mañana y tarde.
  
  Cada voluntario puede elegir el turno en el que desea colaborar (mañana o tarde), de acuerdo con su disponibilidad y preferencias. No es obligatorio participar en ambos horarios. Si algún voluntario desea colaborar también en el otro turno, podrá hacerlo de forma totalmente voluntaria y siempre en coordinación con el equipo
  
  Las principales áreas que reforzamos son:
  
  Lectura y escritura.
  Matemáticas.
  Inglés.
  Computación.
  
  No es necesario ser profesor. Buscamos personas con iniciativa, paciencia, creatividad y muchas ganas de compartir con los niños.
  
  Los voluntarios preparan y dirigen sus propias actividades con el acompañamiento del equipo local. Nuestra trabajadora social acompaña a los voluntarios en visitas domiciliarias para conocer la realidad de las familias, mientras que nuestra psicóloga brinda orientación para el trabajo con los programas de estimulación temprana y de habilidades especiales.
  
  Enseñanza de inglés
  
  De marzo a diciembre, desarrolla un programa de enseñanza de inglés en convenio con escuelas públicas de la comunidad. Muchos de los estudiantes que participan en estas clases también forman parte de nuestro Centro de Aprendizaje, lo que nos permite reforzar su proceso educativo tanto en la escuela como-.
  
  Talleres
  
  Animamos a los voluntarios a compartir sus conocimientos y talentos. Puedes proponer talleres de música, deportes, arte, manualidades, cocina, danza, fotografía, tecnología, ciencias o cualquier otra actividad educativa, cultural o recreativa que beneficie a nuestros niños. Siempre estamos abiertos a nuevas ideas.
  
  Comunicación y coordinación
  
  Si tienes experiencia en comunicación, fotografía, vídeo, diseño gráfico o gestión de redes sociales, también puedes colaborar apoyando la difusión de nuestro trabajo y la actualización de nuestra página web.
  
  Asimismo, si cuentas con experiencia en liderazgo o coordinación de equipos, puedes integrarte a nuestro equipo de coordinación y apoyar en la organización de los voluntarios y de las actividades del centro.
  
  Estancia mínima recomendada: 2 semanas.

  Thank you for your interest in volunteering here
  
  We ask for a contribution of €8 per day (or the equivalent in local currency). This contribution helps us cover meals from Monday to Friday, as well as the maintenance and running costs of the Volunteer House.
  
  We are happy to accommodate different dietary requirements. We can prepare vegetarian, vegan, or other special diets, as long as you let us know in advance.
  
  On weekends and public holidays, our cook is not available, but volunteers have access to a fully equipped kitchen where they can prepare their own meals.
  
  What is included?
  
  From the day you arrive until the day you leave, you will have access to:
  
  Shared accommodation with other volunteers (or a private room for couples, subject to availability).
  Meals from Monday to Friday.
  Cleaning of the common areas.
  Free Wi-Fi.
  Fully equipped kitchen.
  Refrigerator for volunteers.
  Shared living room.
  Bed linen and shared bathroom.
  A rooftop terrace, perfect for relaxing, socializing with other volunteers, or using the designated smoking area. Smoking is not permitted inside the house or at the facilities.
  
  The Volunteer House is located in the district of Florencia de Mora, approximately 20 minutes by taxi from our Community Learning Center.
  
  Daily transportation between the Volunteer House and this place is the responsibility of each volunteer. The approximate cost is 2 Peruvian soles per trip (around €0.50) when sharing a taxi with other volunteers.
  
  Arrival
  
  You are welcome to arrive and start your volunteer placement on any day of the week. We are flexible and will adapt to your travel schedule.
  
  To ensure a safe arrival, we organize 24/7 pick-up from Trujillo Airport or the bus station.
  
  Whenever possible, a member of our team will welcome you personally. If this is not possible, we will arrange a trusted taxi driver to pick you up. The cost of this transfer is covered by the volunteer and ensures a safe arrival at the Volunteer House.

  La Casa de Voluntarios está ubicada en el distrito de Florencia de Mora, aproximadamente a 20 minutos en taxi de nuestro Centro de Aprendizaje.
