  We are a Russian-speaking family of three (Elena, Mikhail, and our 5-year-old daughter Vasilisa). In 2023, we moved to Brazil and recently purchased our own home in the city of Palhoça. I (Elena) am a speech therapist by profession and teach children online. I can also teach Russian as a foreign language to adults or children. My husband Mikhail is a React frontend developer. We previously stayed with hosts through the Workaway service and also hosted guests when we lived in Azerbaijan (Baku). We have a spare room with a single bed, so we are now ready to reopen our profile to host guests and get help with English or Portuguese practice. Mikhail speaks conversational English at an intermediate level. Mikhail and I are just learning Portuguese. However, our daughter Vasilisa is already fluent in Portuguese and, of course, Russian.
  
  We would also benefit from the help of digital nomads (anything related to the development of educational games for children: design, development). Skills in video editing and filming would also be of interest if you possess them. We would also be happy if native English speakers could play with our daughter in English. She is very sociable, cheerful, and curious. If a guest has any hobbies, they could also be useful when playing in English with our daughter. For example, you could draw in English if you enjoy and know how to do it, or sing. Active sports activities involving the use of English are also welcome. Our daughter does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and ballet, but she is interested in many things. She also loves music and singing.
  
  We would also be grateful for help with household chores and joint or alternating cooking (I also really love to cook and experiment with new dishes). If you can help us with this, we will be very happy. Of all the things listed, the most important thing we expect from a guest is English language practice for our daughter. So far, this has been our only experience with travelers. But if you possess any of the previously mentioned skills, that would be an additional plus. We look forward to your responses to our profile.

  Arbeit

  We would like help with language practice for our family. My husband speaks English but would like to improve his skills. It would also be wonderful if you could play with our daughter in English. Additionally, we would be happy to have help with our project of developing educational games for children (game design/development) We would also welcome your video filming and editing skills. If you love to cook, we would like to try traditional dishes from your cuisine (though this is not frequent or mandatory). I also love cooking Russian cuisine and could prepare it in return for my family and guests.

  We live in Palhoça, a cozy town south of Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina. It’s a great place for travelers who want to experience the beauty of southern Brazil but want a more relaxed and authentic atmosphere than the more touristy areas.
  
  Palhoça is surrounded by nature, with beautiful beaches, green hills, and protected parks all within easy reach. Here are some places to visit:
  • Guarda do Embaú – one of Brazil’s most famous surf spots, with stunning scenery and a relaxed village atmosphere.
  • Praia da Pinheira – a tranquil beach, great for swimming and relaxing.
  • Praia do Sonho – “Dream Beach,” a quiet spot with stunning sunsets.
  • Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro – a huge nature reserve with hiking trails, waterfalls and an amazing variety of flora and fauna.
  • Ilha de Florianópolis – just a short drive from here you can explore the famous island with dozens of beaches, cultural events and nightlife.
