  Hi! We're a family of 5 that live in McKinney, Texas, a suburb just a bit north of Dallas. We love having people stay with us who want to become part of the family and hang out with us. We're open to someone coming and staying for a few nights depending on availability but prefer extended stays. You will get full room and board, meals, seven days a week. We can only accommodate one person at a time and we accommodate most allergies and food preferences but please let us know initially to make sure we can do it.
  
  About us:
  We're a family that homeschools and are pretty outgoing. My husband and I lived in Asia for ten years and we loved our experience there. We loved hosting people there and coming back to the US we want to continue to do that and give our children the opportunity to meet new people. We're an easy-going family and love having people around. Keep in mind, we have 3 children and we're outgoing and involved in our local community. We love board games, sports, camping, movie nights, etc. We value being playful and having fun experiences. Most days you'll find us hanging outside, in nature, swimming, or at a park. We love our friend group and often have them over to hang out. You're welcome to join us on outings or hang out at home. We want this to be a comfortable and enjoyable situation for all of us and also give you the chance to explore Dallas and the surrounding area as well.
  
  Work:
  While staying with us, work would include a range of different things based on your skill set and the timing of when you come. We are looking for someone energetic, fun, has a good attitude, and is flexible. Tasks might include helping out in our home with housework (no deep cleaning toilets or gross stuff, we promise, more along the lines of helping organize stuff, picking up, dishes, etc), food prep, laundry, cooking, or yardwork. If you are handy, organized, or good with technology we can also use those skills. With homeschooling our schedule is a bit all over the place, so tasks and timing wouldn't be the same every day and ask for flexibility on that part. We also want to make sure you have time to explore Dallas as well.
  
  We would love for workawayers to share their skills, home culture, and/or hobbies with us. So we ask that alongside I or my husband, you be willing to hang out and teach our kids during your visit. It could be learning to cook new dishes, sewing, photography, coding, art, a sport, language, etc. You don't have to be proficient or an expert, it would just be fun for us to learn and hang out with you. You wouldn't be responsible for childcare but we hope in exchange for staying with us that we could also learn from you.
  
  Transportation:
  If timing allows and things are working out, we can include possible trips (if the helper desires) to nearby places. We have some amazing museums and parks in the Dallas area that we can visit. Almost daily I am often out running errands, going to kids' activities, community events, etc. Also, my husband commutes to work several days a week along 75 (the major highway that runs through Dallas). We're happy to help with transportation when we can if it's convenient and near where we are headed. Otherwise, there is the DART Rail System that you can utilize and Uber/Lyft are also easily accessible here.
  
  To be upfront, we are unlike other Workaway setups where you might be working on a farm or have separate quarters to stay in where you are not interacting with a family and can come and go as you please. However, staying with us means staying in our home and being in close contact with us and our children. Safety is important so we do require references. We also require a video call before committing to dates so we can get to know each other. We find this helps put both parties at ease with answering questions and talking through details and expectations. It also helps us get to know you and figure out how to make your stay with us comfortable. We're not a hotel and won't tolerate partying or any undesirable behaviors, if this occurs, you'll be asked to leave immediately. We've never had an issue like that, but we are opening our home to you as a guest and want to make clear that we expect helpers to respect our family and our home. Staying with us means you'll become part of our family and be loved on. We're new to the Workaway platform but not new to having people stay in our home. We've had numerous people stay with us over the years where we've had wonderful experiences and developed lifelong friendships.
  
  We also understand that when your loved ones hear that you might be staying with strangers it could be quite anxiety-provoking for them. If it would be helpful, we're more than willing to chat with your loved ones if it would help put them at ease meeting us over a video call.

  You'll be welcomed into your family and loved on. We love hosting people and sharing our life with them. If English isn't your first language, you'll be fully immersed. You'll get the opportunity to hang out with our three awesome kids and tag along with us on adventures. We live close to Dallas so you'll get to explore the surrounding area.

  Arbeit

  In exchange for accommodations, we ask that you help with some house tasks (this might be: prep food for meals, helping kids with schoolwork, organizing, cooking a meal, random house project, etc). We're open to guests with different skill sets, so please message me dates that you are interested in coming and details about your skills and we'll see if we can figure something out.
  
  We love homeschooling and are passionate about learning and trying new things. If you have a skillset or a hobby, we'd love for you to share that with us while you stay here. Examples might be: photography, art, drawing, sports, woodworking, coding/computers, construction, sewing, etc. Our desire is to provide a home for someone who is open to hanging out with our family and learning from them.

  Unterkunft

  We live in a two-story house and you'll have a private room upstairs. The bathroom upstairs is a shared one with our kids, but we'll ask that they refrain from using that one while you are here. You'll have access to our kitchen to use. We can accommodate most food allergies or preferences, but please let me know ahead of time. We have a dog. We have a fenced in backyard where we like to host a lot of campfires and playdates.

  We have good reliable internet in our home. We homeschool downstairs throughout the day but the upstairs is usually a quiet area if someone needs to get some work done. My husband works from home on some days as well. We're always open to having a cup of tea or coffee and hanging out to get caught up on work.
