My name is Dedi and I'm passionate about promoting the Kerinci Valley to tourists. We have so many amazing attractions here but not many people know about them, which I want to change. My middle-term plan is to build up my own sustainable homestay in Kerinci to host people, who don't want to spend a huge amount of money but want to experience the beautiful nature and culture in Kerinci village. After I worked many years outside of the Kerinci area I decided to come back to my home town to promote what I believe is one of the most untouched and beautiful parts of Indonesia.
After I grew up in the Kerinci village, I studied Tourism and traveled to and worked at the jakarta city, Bali and in Malaysia, so I know what tourists are looking for and where the best spots for unforgettable experiences around the Kerinci village are.
In order to work with tourists I learned English many years ago and I love to practice and improve my English skills with all my volunteers. Together with my wife and our two sons who are 2 and 8 years old I live in a house in Siulak Panjang, not far from the Kerinci mountain and many other natural and cultural attractions.
I love the nature, I'm very interested in antique things and I want to have a positive impact on the nature and all the people, who surround me. I enjoy it to get inspired by other people and their perspectives and love to share my own history and experiences, so hopefully we will have some inspiring conversations, when you visiting me.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

We welcome our volunteers as family members and are happy to share our daily live with you. I would love to show you around and share my knowledge about the wonderful attractions in the Kerinci Valley, like the largest volcano in Indonesia, waterfalls, hot springs or the amazing wildlife, including the largest population of wild Sumatran tigers (very shy and often hard to find though) in the world. Around the valley are also many cinnamon, coffee and tea plantations and you can learn how the farmers process it. I also enjoy to talk about the local culture, customs and festivals and if you're lucky and stay here at the right time, we can visit a local festival together. Me and my wife can also teach you how to cook traditional food and of course to speak a bit Bahasa Indonesia (the Indonesian language), if you want to learn it.
If you like playing volleyball and want to get in contact with other locals you are welcome to join our daily fun game at 16:30 and if you want to get in contact with the local children you're also able to visit a school or have conversations and playing games with the neighbour children, since they're always excited when a foreigner is in the village.
So independently, if you're looking for stunning nature, Indonesian farm live or authentic Indonesian culture, you will find everything here!Arbeit
To make Kerinci more tourist ready, I'm currently teaching English to children and adults from the age of 9 to 30. If you like to teach English with me and encourage the locals to speak confidently with foreigners, feel warmly invited too! - Of course you don't need to be a professional teacher, mostly you will teach for English language level A1 and A2.
However, I also want to improve my English and take the IELTS test later this year, so if you are an experienced teacher that would be great! Any help with preparing me for the test is appreciated.
I also want to promote the area around here, with the mountains, the plantations, the national park etc. and boost tourism in Kerinci. If you are experienced with vlogging and video editing you can be a valuable help to promote the Kerinci valley and its attractions to get more visitors. A previous workawayer has started to make a website for me with wordpress. If you have experience with wordpress you could also continue to work on the website.
Volunteers with skills in arts and DIY are also very welcome, thus I'm always looking for unique design ideas even if I have already many ideas - get inspired by other people is always great.
It doesn't matter if you are only skilled in one area or more, you can choose with what of the things mentioned above you want to help me during your stay.Sprachen

My home is located in the heart of Siulak Panjang. It is a little town and half an hour away from the largest town in the Kerinci valley, Sungai Penuh. My wife, my two sons and I live here with my parents-in-law. You will have a double bed in our living room and we will invite you to be part of the traditional Kerinci family-life.
We are happy to provide you with traditional meals (rice, fish, vegetables ad many more). You can also contribute by buying some food or cooking with us, if you want to.Was noch ...
How can you get here? (I can help you to organize a shared car from Jambi, Padang or Kerinci Airports)
1. Fly into Padang (Minangkabau International Airport) from Jakarta or KL ($50-$60 AUD), get a shared car (around 250,000 IDR (=15 Euro)) or private car (1,000,000 IDR) to Kerinci Valley (7-8 hours).
2. Fly to Kerinci Airport (KRC) from Jambi Airport (DJB) ($40-$60AUD), then a bus to Sungai Penuh takes 45 mins (15,000 IDR). From Sungai Penuh.
3. Fly to Jambi Airport (DJB), then get a shared car (180-200,000 IDR) or private car(1,100,000 IDR) to Kerinci Valley (11 hours)
More reasons to visit the Kerinci Valley:
The Kerinci Valley has so many opportunities to see natural wonders, wildlife and our unique culture. I live near the rice fields and waterfall area . When you go by motor a hour to tea plantation you will see the famous vulcano Kerinci, Indonesia’s highest volcano. You can also visit caves, waterfalls, hot springs and tea/cinnamon processing. Lake Kaco has five lakes that are all different colours. The Kerinci Valley is the home of gibbons, monkeys, birds and the giant corpse flower. There are over 160 tigers in Kerinci Seblat National Park but they are shy and the park is large so you probably won’t meet them, even if you go trekking. I can take you to some sites close by or help you to organize a tour if you want to go further or climb a mountain.Etwas mehr Information
