  Experience Norwegian coastal life – fishing, freediving & practical projects
  
  Hi, I’m Adrian.
  
  I live on a small old farm by the sea on the west coast of Norway, outside Bergen.
  
  I’ve hosted travellers for many years. What I enjoy most about Workaway is meeting people from different backgrounds, sharing skills and letting them experience a side of Norway that’s difficult to find as a tourist.
  
  Life here
  
  The sea and nature are a big part of everyday life.
  
  Depending on the weather and season, we might go fishing, freediving or spearfishing, set crab pots, explore the coast by boat, cook what we catch or spend a rainy day in the workshop.
  
  I’m also have practical projects going on.
  
  I have experience with fishing, freediving, boats, forestry, tree work, woodworking and machinery, and I’m happy to share what I know.
  
  You don’t need experience – curiosity and willingness, and ability to learn are more important.
  
  If you have your own skills in cooking, photography/video, gardening or something completely different, I’d love to learn from you too.
  
  Who fits well here?
  
  I normally prefer hosting one person at a time.
  
  You’ll probably enjoy it here if you’re independent, tidy, practical, curious and comfortable with countryside life.
  
  This isn’t a hostel or a party place. There won’t always be a planned activity, and you should be comfortable entertaining yourself sometimes.
  
  But if you’d rather catch dinner than order it, take a boat trip instead of going shopping, learn practical skills and experience ordinary Norwegian coastal life, you’ll probably fit in well.

  I am looking for practical and motivated people who enjoy nature, learning new skills, and helping with everyday life on a small Norwegian homestead.
  
  Tasks vary depending on season and weather, but may include:

  Preparing fish and equipment
  Maintaining fishing gear and boats
  Filleting fish and cooking seafood
  
  Forest work:
  
  Clearing branches and brush
  Preparing firewood
  Splitting and stacking wood
  
  Cooking & house tasks:
  
  Cooking and baking
  Gardening
  Cleaning and painting
  
  Homestead projects:
  
  Maintenance and restoration of the old house and property
  
  Video & photography: I enjoy documenting projects and nature life, so guests with photography or videography skills are welcome.
  
  Yoga & breathing: If you have experience with yoga or breathing techniques, I would be happy to learn from you.
  
  Most tasks require that you are comfortable helping independently and taking normal responsibility in daily life.
  
  Experience with practical work, cooking, or living independently is appreciated, but attitude matters more than perfection.
  
  This is not a business. The homestead is a private home focused on simple living, nature, self-sufficiency, and cultural exchange.

  I speak mostly Norwegian, German and English. I am interested in learning French, Spanish and Japanese It is a big plus if you speak any of these languages. I am open to learn other languages aswell. And of course, I can teach you Norwegian.

  Unterkunft

  Accommodation & Lifestyle
  
  You will stay in a traditional Norwegian house from the 1800s.
  
  All guests are provided with their own bed, clean bedding, and linen.
  
  The lifestyle here is simple, peaceful, and countryside-oriented.
  
  Much of the food is self-supplied and inspired by traditional West Norwegian food culture. I fish, hunt, and prepare much of the food myself. Meals are usually simple homemade food such as fish, meat, potatoes, bread, and seasonal ingredients.
  
  There are supermarkets nearby for additional needs.
  
  The house is usually quiet after 22:00, since we live a calm lifestyle and often start the day early.

  About Bergen
  
  Bergen is almost 1000 years old and is the second largest city in Norway.
  
  Highlights include:
  
  Fjords and coastal nature
  Mountains and hiking trails
  Bryggen UNESCO World Heritage site
  Forests, cafés, museums, and local food culture
  
  The homestead is located about 1 hour from Bergen and can be reached by public transport.
  
  There is an express boat through the fjords from Bergen city — the journey itself is a beautiful experience.
  There is also a good bus connection.

  I usually prefer hosting solo travellers because of space and group dynamics, although exceptions can sometimes be made.
  
  Flexible or last-minute requests often work best.
  
  I normally plan 1–2 weeks ahead, sometimes longer depending on schedules, compatibility and your skills.
  
  I try to reply quickly. If you do not receive a reply within 7 days, please continue your search for another host.
  
  Everyone is welcome to apply regardless of age, gender, nationality, or experience.
