This was my first workaway experience and honestly such a wonderful time. I got to experience Sicily in completely different way and I am so grateful to Annalisa, Salvo (Annalisa’s husband) and Carlotta for this!
During my time there, I was so comfortable staying with Annalisa , Carlotta and their extended family in their summer home in the
… read more village - Annalisa’s sister, Tiziana, brother, Rino, nephew, Tommaso and mother (who I called nonna) , Maria. I also can’t forget Diva, my favourite little girl - such a sweet little dog! This was the best kind of cultural exchange and I really felt like I could be my authentic self there in spite of the cultural differences.
Shoutout to the food! Oh my god!! Thank you so much for all the lovely dishes cooked. I remember one night I told Rino and Tiziana that I wanted Arancini for dinner and there wasn’t a restaurant in the village that made them so we drove 20 mins to the next town to buy some for dinner. My heart was so full and of course the arancini was delicious.
Carlotta is an absolute sweetheart - we have a similar sense of humour and I felt like we really got along. She is such a bright and talented girl (this girl can DANCE and knows all the lyrics to every song). She is a real joy to be around.
I also met some of Annalisa’s friends during my time there and blended right in! I already knew that Sicilians are welcoming people but this was on another level. I didn’t want to leave!
Thank you so much again Annalisa, Salvo and Carlotta. This is an experience I won’t ever forget.

Annalisa and her daughter Carlotta were excellent workaway hosts and always made me feel included and welcome. I had a lovely stay with them and enjoyed the beautiful authentic village in which they live in. They and their family always offered to take me out with them, whether that be for a walk in their village in the hot evening or at the

It was so nice to see their Sicilian culture in a village and eat yummy Sicilian dishes (one of which was Pizzolo, which is a dish typical in Sortino, their village!). It'll for sure be an experience I'll remember forever.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
