We are currently only receiving volunteers with conversational Spanish! We appreciate your understanding!
COFFEE SEASON IS UPON US! Help us pick and process our delicious agroecological coffee, you can be part of the whole process with us! (available from April to the beginning of June)
We are a farm, an agroecological family project made up of Omar, Gilma, Laura, and Ana. Logan, Sam, and Pongo (the dogs), and Kura the cat. We are located in Cachipay-Cundinamarca, Colombia.
Our main activities are the cultivation of coffee and Orellana mushrooms, we also take care of chickens and goats, we have a home garden, banana and citrus trees.
We have certain activities that must be carried out daily without fail!
-Feeding the chickens, collecting their eggs several times a day, and making sure they always have water to drink.
-Watering the Orellana mushrooms so that they are always fresh and moist.
Among the activities we generally carry out are:
-The harvesting, processing, and drying of coffee. (now with a bicimachine)
-Preparation of organic and bio-prepared fertilizers. (Omar's specialty)
-Irrigation and care of crops and ornamental plants.
-Preparation, sowing, and harvesting of orellanas.
-Eco-construction with guadua (structures such as bridges and corrals)
-Adaptation of common areas and housing.
The schedule is decided with the volunteers, we make a video call to share our expectations and yours, thank you for considering us in your adventure! We hope that you learn from us as much as we do from you.

Somos finca, un proyecto familiar agroecológico, conformado por Omar, Gilma, Laura y Ana, también: Logan, Sam y Pongo los perros y Kura la gata. Estamos ubicados en Cachipay-Cundinamarca-Colombia.
Nuestras actividades principales son el cultivo de café y setas orellanas, también cuidamos de gallinas y cabras, tenemos una huerta casera, platanera y cítricos.
Tenemos ciertas actividades que deben realizarse diariamente ¡sin falta!
-Alimentar a las gallinas, recoger sus huevos varias veces al día y asegurarnos de que siempre tengan agua para beber.
-Regar las setas orellanas para que siempre estén frescas y húmedas.
Entre las actividades que realizamos generalmente están:
-La recolección, beneficio y secado del café. (ahora con bicimáquina)
-Preparación de abonos orgánicos y biopreparados. (la especialidad de Omar)
-Riego y cuidaddo de cultivos y plantas ornamentales.
-Preparación, siembra y cosecha de orellanas.
-Eco-construcción con guadua (estructuras como puentes y corrales)
-Adecuación de zonas comunes y vivienda.
El horario se decide con los voluntarios, realizamos una videollamada para compartir nuestras expectativas y las de ustedes, ¡gracias por considerarnos en su aventura! Esperamos que aprendan de nosotros tanto como nosotros de ustedes.

Arbeit
Our project includes animals: feeding them and cleaning their houses.
Gardening: planting, harvesting, weeding, watering.
Green construction: building with natural materials such as (recycled) wood and guadua (bamboo) also harvesting these materials, even transporting them from one place to another.
Right now we are focusing on our food sovereignty!

Nuestro proyecto incluye animales: alimentarlos y limpiar sus casas.
Jardinería: sembrar, cosechar, deshierbar, regar.
Bioconstrucción: construir con materiales naturales como madera (reciclada) y guadua (bambú) también cosechar estos materiales, incluso transportarlos de un lugar a otro.
Ahora mismo nos estamos centrando en nuestra soberanía alimentaria!

We have many different animals to see and discover, especially birds and insects.
There are waterfalls nearby, viewing points with wonderful views and hiking trails.
There are buses that go in and out of the village from six in the morning to seven in the evening.
The farm is approximately 40 minutes from the city (on foot).

Tenemos muchos animales diferentes para ver y descubrir, sobre todo aves e insectos.
Hay cascadas cerca, miradores con vistas maravillosas y rutas de senderismo.
Hay autobuses que entran y salen del pueblo de seis de la mañana a siete de la tarde.
La granja está a 40 minutos aproximadamente de la ciudad (caminando).

Toda una leyenda en finca GAIA, algunos afirman que es tan solo un fantasma que aparece brevemente al más mínimo olor de carne en el almuerzo, otros, rumoran que la han visto disfrutar de la sombra en medio de los árboles, esperando el momento perfecto para atacar. De mirada fría y actitud esquiva, no es sorpresa que los voluntarios sólo la vean una o dos veces en toda su visita, valora mucho su espacio personal (tres metros a la redonda) y no dudará en defenderlo (huir).
Sam
Sam es la directora de seguridad en finca GAIA, aún con su pequeño tamaño sabe muy bien como enviar a Logan o a Pongo a defender su territorio, es sin duda alguna la perrita más querida por quienes visitan nuestro hogar, le encantan los cariñitos, que le rasquen su pancita o le hablen bonito, su pasatiempo favorito es rascar el suelo para encontrar la tierra más fresca y cómoda para dormir.
Logan (8 Jahren)
Logan es nuestro perro guardián/pastor/atrapador de palitos. Es un perro con muchas habilidades, extremadamente inteligente, pierde la cabeza cuando se encuentra con un palo (o naranja, o mango, o terrón) que quiere atrapar. Le encanta acostarse bajo la mesa del almuerzo y asegurarse de que todos estemos bien.
Pongo
Pongo es nuestro perro mayor, no sólo por ser el mas viejito de todos sino también porque es el más grande, le encanta escaparse de la finca para ir a comer pollo asado en el pueblo, es por eso que una de las tareas diarias es sacarlo a pasear en la mañana y en la tarde, ya sea dentro de la finca o afuera, pongo es una excelente compañía para una bonita caminata!
