My name is Justin, the Chairman of the board of directors at a newly registered NGO that seeks to empower our community with handwork skills as well as entrepreneurship education. Our country like in most places in the world is now faced with a growing population without significant economic growth to provide jobs or affordable education resulting in a high number of unskilled youth on the streets with nothing to do. This is where we come in and offer free training along with entrepreneurship skills so as to make it possible for the graduates of our program to either work at our project partners such as Afrikan Wear Design, WEHAF, and others or go employ themselves.

Travelers coming to us will benefit in very many ways such as understanding the local life, getting to see how people from a different side of the world go about their lives. You will also get to learn a new language in Swahili - The most widely spoken African language with over 100 million speakers across East and Central Africa. We also have cultural trips as well as cooking sessions at the house where you can learn how to make Tanzanian dishes just as much as we would love to learn from you. While at the projects you can also learn a new skill that you didn't have like jewelry making.

At our NGO we have tailoring projects, handloom projects, woodwork projects, jewelry as well as batik making. We are looking for people who can come in and train our people in professional tailoring skills and weaving skills using the machines and workshop at Afrikan Wear Design. We are also looking for a person who can train our trainees in weaving skills. We have scholars who are interested in learning how to weave as well as weavers that would like to enhance/improve their skills and learn how to do more patterns and improve on the quality of weaving.

  • Unterkunft

    Unterkunft

We have three mixed bunker bedrooms for our workawayers to choose from. Two of the rooms are inside the house and use a shared bathroom and one is just before the house entrance with a private bathroom shared by two people. The rooms have shared huge wardrobes and side tables. All beds in Twill rooms are double-decker and are covered with large four-door mosquito nets from the top to bottom. All beds come with a custom blanket made from leftover fabrics 6X5 feet and a 60X95 inches handwoven blanket.

We also provide you with three meals. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the accommodation (The Woven House) while lunch will be served at the project where you will be working from. The project lunch is mostly Tanzania while at the Woven House food will range from local dishes to Western foods.

On weekends you won't be working and this will be the perfect time to go into nature for freshening up. We can organize sightseeing, games safaris, Mountain hikes (like Climbing Kili), cultural tours and beach holidays. We have a car at the project so going around should not be a challenge. You will oly be required to contribute a fuel and food expences while you are on the trip.
