Beschreibung
My journey began as a motorcycle taxi rider, known locally as a piki piki driver. Through hard work, determination, and a dream of creating a better future for my family my wife, our twin boys, beautiful daughter and our extended family I gradually built something more sustainable. Today, I proudly run a small safari and tours company, and every day I continue working to make it even better.
Our business is based in Morogoro, a beautiful town nestled at the foot of the Uluguru Mountains in Tanzania. The area is surrounded by lush green hills, charming villages, fertile farmland, scenic hiking trails, and breathtaking waterfalls. It is a truly special place that I am proud to call home.
We organize safaris throughout Tanzania, with a particular focus on the Southern Circuit, including Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park, and Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). These destinations offer incredible wildlife experiences, often with fewer tourists and at more affordable prices than some of the more famous northern parks. In addition to safaris, we arrange hiking adventures, cultural tours to Maasai villages and local markets, and transportation services across Tanzania.
Like many tourism businesses around the world, we faced enormous challenges when the COVID-19 pandemic brought international travel to a standstill. With very few tourists visiting Tanzania, I had to find another way to support my family and continue creating opportunities for others in my community.
During that difficult period, I came up with the idea of opening a small photography studio in Morogoro. What started as a survival strategy during uncertain times has grown into a successful local business that captures special moments for families, couples, children, graduates, and businesses. Today, the studio provides full-time employment for around five people and part-time opportunities for another five team members, including photographers, editors, videographers, designers, and support staff.
The photography studio has become much more than a business. It has created jobs, helped young people develop valuable creative skills, and provided professional photography services that were previously less accessible in our area. Looking back, one of the most difficult periods of my life became an opportunity to build something meaningful that continues to serve our community.
Together, these two businesses have not only helped support my family but have also created employment opportunities for local guides, creatives, and service providers. We are passionate about showcasing the beauty of Tanzania while contributing to the growth of our local economy.
We still have a long journey ahead, but every step forward brings us closer to our vision. Along the way, I hope to learn from your experiences, share what I have learned, and introduce you to the incredible people, landscapes, wildlife, wildlife experiences, and culture that make Tanzania such an amazing country.
Thank you for being part of the journey. -

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
One of the most important parts of hosting volunteers is the opportunity to share cultures, experiences, and ways of life. We do not see volunteers simply as helpers we see them as guests, friends, and members of our community during their stay.
By staying with us in Morogoro, volunteers will experience everyday life in Tanzania beyond the typical tourist experience. They will have the opportunity to learn about local traditions, family life, customs, food, music, and the values that shape our community. We enjoy sharing stories, celebrating special occasions together, and introducing volunteers to the warm hospitality that Tanzania is known for.
Volunteers can learn basic Swahili and practice speaking with local people, visit vibrant markets, attend community events, and explore nearby villages to gain a deeper understanding of Tanzanian culture. We are also happy to introduce them to local foods and teach them how traditional meals are prepared.
Through our safari and tourism business, volunteers can learn about Tanzania’s incredible wildlife, conservation efforts, national parks, and the important role tourism plays in supporting local communities. They will gain insight into how a small tourism business operates and how tourism contributes to economic development in less-visited regions of the country.
Through our photography studio, volunteers can experience the creative side of our community by seeing how we capture important moments such as weddings, graduations, family celebrations, and other local events. They will also learn how photography and storytelling help preserve memories and connect people.
We hope to learn just as much from our volunteers as they learn from us. We welcome people from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures, and we enjoy hearing their stories, learning about their traditions, and exchanging ideas. We believe that the best cultural exchange happens when people share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives with open minds and mutual respect.
Our goal is for every volunteer to leave not only with new skills and unforgettable memories, but also with a deeper understanding of Tanzania, meaningful friendships, and a place they can always call their second home. -
Arbeit
As a small family-run business, we are always looking to learn, grow, and improve. We believe that cultural exchange is one of the most valuable parts of travel, and we are excited to welcome volunteers from around the world who would like to share their skills, experiences, and ideas.
We run two small businesses in Morogoro: a safari and tours company and a photography studio. Both businesses are growing, and there are many ways that volunteers can contribute depending on their interests and skills.
For our safari company, volunteers can help with marketing, social media management, content creation, website improvement, photography, videography, graphic design, customer communication, and helping us develop new tourism experiences. We are especially interested in learning more about international tourism trends and how to reach travelers from different parts of the world.
For our photography studio, volunteers can assist with photography projects, photo editing, video editing, social media content, graphic design, customer service, and creative projects. Those with experience in branding, digital marketing, or business development can also help us strengthen and expand our services.
We also welcome volunteers who enjoy working with people, sharing their culture, teaching new skills, practicing English with our team, or helping us improve our business operations. Sometimes a fresh perspective can make a big difference, and we love exchanging ideas with people from different backgrounds.
In return, we are happy to share our knowledge of Tanzania, local culture, tourism, photography, and entrepreneurship. Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience daily life in Morogoro, explore the beautiful Uluguru Mountains, visit local markets and villages, and learn about the challenges and rewards of building a small business in Tanzania.
More than anything, we are looking for open-minded, positive, and motivated people who are interested in cultural exchange and becoming part of our family and community for a while. Whether you are an experienced professional or simply eager to learn and contribute, we would be happy to welcome you. -

Unterkunft
Welcome to our peaceful home located about 15 kilometers outside Morogoro town, in a quiet and safe countryside neighborhood.
Our house has four self-contained bedrooms, and we live here as a couple since our children spend most of their time in boarding school. We are happy to share our home and daily life with guests who enjoy a calm environment and local hospitality.
Guests will have their own private bedroom, while common areas such as the living room, kitchen, and outdoor space are shared. You can choose to eat meals with us and experience local food or cook your own meals if you prefer. -

Morogoro is a wonderful place for volunteers who enjoy nature, culture, and authentic local experiences. During their time off, volunteers can explore the beautiful Uluguru Mountains, known for their stunning scenery, hiking trails, waterfalls, and panoramic views of the town. There are opportunities for day hikes, visits to local villages, and discovering the unique biodiversity of the area.
Volunteers can also explore local markets, experience Tanzanian street food, visit cultural sites, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Morogoro. For wildlife enthusiasts, weekend trips to Mikumi National Park can be arranged, where it is possible to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many other animals in their natural habitat.
Morogoro is centrally located, making it easy to travel to other parts of Tanzania during longer breaks. Popular destinations such as Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park, and other regions are accessible by bus, train, or domestic flights.
Transport Around the Area
Getting around Morogoro is easy and affordable. The most common forms of transport are motorcycle taxis (piki piki), tuk-tuks (bajaji), and local taxis. Public buses are available for travel within town and to nearby destinations. We are happy to help volunteers understand local transportation options and organize travel when needed.
For volunteers interested in exploring Tanzania further, Morogoro is connected to Dar es Salaam and other major cities by road and railway services.
Our Lifestyle
We live a simple, hardworking, and family-oriented life. Family, respect, honesty, and community are very important to us. Our days can be busy as we manage both our safari company and photography studio, but we always make time to connect with guests, share meals, and exchange stories and experiences.
We enjoy meeting people from different cultures and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. Volunteers should expect a genuine Tanzanian experience rather than a luxury lifestyle. Life here is relaxed, friendly, and community-focused.
House Rules
We do not have many strict rules, but we ask volunteers to be respectful of our family, neighbors, and local culture.
A few simple expectations include:
* Respect shared living spaces and help keep them clean and tidy.
* Communicate openly if you have questions, concerns, or special needs.
* Be reliable and committed during agreed working hours.
* Respect local customs, traditions, and cultural differences.
* Ask permission before taking photos of people, especially in local communities.
* Avoid excessive alcohol consumption and any illegal drugs.
* Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and consideration.
Most importantly, we hope volunteers arrive with an open mind, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. We believe the best Workaway experiences are built on mutual respect, cultural exchange, and genuine human connection.
We look forward to welcoming people from around the world into our family, sharing our culture, and creating unforgettable memories together. -
