We are sheep farmers and we own around 400 sheep and 2 border collie dogs they are working sheep dogs and one family labrador. We need no help with the farm at this point.
I am 29 years old and my husband is 34 years old, our children are 13, 8 and 6 years old and one that is turning 1 in June.
We need help with our kids, cooking and cleaning. We love to be out in the nature, spend time with our animals and our kids. We love hiking and being with friends and family ! :)
We are looking for some nice girl to help us this summer with our children and little housework. This person needs to be someone who has a good spirit and likes children.
East of Iceland is very beautiful and there are many things to see in your free time.

You will get to know east of Iceland and our beautiful family.
The nature around us is very beautiful and you can go hiking if you like. The east fjords are known for their beautiful nature like Stuðlagil canyon, Stapavík, Seyðisfjörður and many other things.
Also our friends and family are amazing and they are fun 2 be around !!
We mostly need help with our youngest during the summer while we are working, it would just be few hours a day until she goes to kindergarden.

You can travel around east of Iceland. Go visit Seyðisfjörður, Stuðlagil Canyon, Petra's stone museum Stöðvarfjörður, Egilsstaðir for Vök and many other places. There are buses around east of Iceland and also you can borrow our car.
Ramon and Charlotte stayed with us in May and we did all connect very well. They have experience with farm life and wanted to come to Iceland and see how lambing season is done here.
They did amazing job helping us at the farm and where so nice to our family. We had a wonderful time having them stay with us.
They where easy to teach and talk to… read more and we all became good friends.
Hope they visit us again sometime
We recommend them highly ;) !
Miss them already !!
Staying with Jórunn, Arnór, and their family for six weeks was an incredible experience. We traveled to the small town of Breiðdalsvík specifically for lambing season because we wanted to build upon our previous livestock work experience. We knew what we were getting into, and wanted to challenge ourselves, so we worked every day for the “night… read more shift” at the sheep house (a two minute drive down the road). It was definitely tiring, but in a good way. We had plenty of time before and after the busiest part of the season (500 lambs!) to explore the surrounding area - one of the most gorgeous places you can imagine, as the home is right near the ocean with breathtaking mountains all around.
Arnór and Jórunn are knowledgeable, experienced sheep farmers, and they welcomed us into their family right away. We were grateful that they gave us lots of responsibility with the sheep and the freedom to make mistakes. They were extremely patient and kind with every question we had, and were generous in making sure we were comfortable. We got to try so many Icelandic dishes, including the absolutely delicious lamb from the farm. A few times we got the chance to go with Arnór to visit some local farmer friends in the valley to get an even wider perspective on Icelandic farming, which was another valuable experience. We were able to learn firsthand about the endurance and community support required to manage a sheep operation of this size, and were glad to have the chance to try every new method Jórunn and Arnór taught us. We will never look at an ice pick the same way again ;)
Communication was excellent all around, and we always felt like we knew what was expected of us and that we could ask for help if we needed it. They even made it possible for us to borrow a car from a family member, which was very kind. There was also a very good balance of time on our own (working independently, cooking some of our meals in the comfy downstairs hostel) and time together for work, dinner, and joking around.
We will cherish the long conversations we had around the dinner table and hilarious laughs we shared. The whole family is fun and joyful to be around — the kids are all lovely and have strong personalities. Our only wish is that we had studied Icelandic to be able to talk to the two youngest kids!
If you are committed to experiencing real life in the East of Iceland with a wonderful family and their sheep, there won’t be a better place than here! We cannot wait to go back :)

This was our first workaway experience for all of us. We talked for months with Jórunn and Arnór before meeting, we were reassured with our lack of confidence in English. Once on the day of meeting it was like we already knew each other and we discovered a wonderful family.
We were first there to babysit and help with daily life, but we finally… read more found our place on the farm. We are grateful for all the moments spent with them, we learned so much, both about the life of farmers, as much about Icelandic culture and life in this nature. We also met their close family and friends. What good times we had!
Thank you for welcoming us as members of your family, we are today happy to count you as friends and will be delighted to see you again soon. These moments will remain forever engraved in our lives !
A big kiss to the dogs, the sheep (Bueno and Dream), to these loving children and of course to you. We will see each other again for a lambing season. We love you guys 🥰
Bisous bisous Ben og Clara ❤️
