  We are an international, multicultural family: Khaled (Lebanese), Carolina (Spanish from Chiclana), and our two little girls, Maryam (4) and Sarah (2). We met while working in Dubai’s luxury hospitality sector, so we love international environments, traveling, and sharing experiences with people from around the world. At home we speak Spanish, English, and Arabic, and although we try to use them separately, we often end up mixing them
  
  We live in Chiclana de la Frontera, right in the town centre and just 8 km from the famous La Barrosa beach. It’s a safe, peaceful area with great weather all year round. Volunteers enjoy coming here because they can experience authentic Andalusian life: great food, a friendly local atmosphere, beautiful nature, amazing beaches, surf and charming nearby towns.

  Somos una familia intercultural e internacional formada por Khaled (libanés), Carolina (española, de Chiclana) y nuestras dos niñas de 4 y 2 años, Maryam y Sarah. Nos conocimos trabajando en Dubái en el sector de la alta hotelería, por lo que nos encanta la internacionalidad, viajar y compartir experiencias con gente de otros países. En casa hablamos español, inglés y árabe, y aunque intentamos usarlos por separado, muchas veces terminamos mezclándolos
  
  Vivimos en Chiclana de la Frontera, en pleno centro y a solo 8 km de la famosa playa de La Barrosa. Es una zona tranquila, segura y con un clima estupendo todo el año. A los voluntarios suele gustarles venir porque pueden disfrutar de una experiencia andaluza auténtica: buena comida, ambiente local, naturaleza, playas increíbles, surf y pueblos muy bonitos cerca.

  We love for our volunteers to feel more than welcome from day one. We know how challenging it can be to take the step of going to another country and adapt during those first days while getting used to a new place and customs, and that’s why we want you to feel comfortable from the very beginning. We have both gone through this ourselves several times and understand how important it is.

  Nos encanta que los voluntarios se sientan más que bienvenidos desde el primer día. Sabemos lo difícil que es dar el paso de ir a otro país y adaptarse en esos primeros días hasta familiarizarse con el lugar y las nuevas costumbres, y por eso queremos que te sientas confortable desde el primer momento. Ambos hemos pasado por ello en varias ocasiones y sabemos lo importante que es.

  Arbeit

  In our daily life, as we both work, we need some help with our little ones, who would share fun and educational time.
  
  This would be from 15:00 to 19:30h, when they finish school until we get them ready for bath and dinner, from Monday to Thursday. During these afternoons, usually one or both of the girls have extracurricular activities, so part of the role may involve taking them to and picking them up, which is usually a pleasant walk through the city center, or if the activity is at home, we are usually there, so the volunteer does not have to worry about being alone with the girls.
  
  On Fridays, the volunteer would help with household tasks from 10:00 to 14:00, so they can have the afternoon and the whole weekend free.
  
  If the volunteer has any fixed course or schedule commitments, we are flexible and can adjust the hours.
  
  During the weekend, the volunteer is also welcome to join our family plans if they wish.

  En nuestro día a día, debido a que ambos trabajamos, necesitamos apoyo con nuestras pequeñas, que compartan un tiempo divertido y educativo.
  
  Esto sería de 15:00 a 19:30h, cuando salen de la escuela hasta que las preparamos para aseo y cena, de lunes a jueves. Durante esas tardes, normalmente las niñas o una de ellas tiene actividad extraescolar, por lo que parte del acompañamiento puede ser llevarla y recogerla, lo que suele ser un agradable paseo por el centro de la ciudad, o si es en casa, nosotros solemos estar allí, así que no tiene que preocuparse por estar sola con las niñas.
  
  Los viernes haríamos tareas del hogar de 10:00 a 14:00, para que la persona pueda tener la tarde y todo el fin de semana libre.
  
  Somos flexibles, si la persona tiene algún curso con horario fijo, se puede adaptar.
  
  Durante el fin de semana, la persona también sería bienvenida a unirse a nuestros planes familiares si le apetece.

  🇪🇸 Idiomas en la familia El idioma lo marca todo en nuestra vida, ya que en nuestra familia así lo necesitamos. Tenemos un ambiente español, con mamá nativa; mamá y las niñas hablan en español y papá les intenta seguir. Papá, libanés, les habla en árabe a las niñas; mamá no habla árabe y les pregunta qué ha dicho papá. Entre mamá y papá, hablamos inglés, porque así nos conocimos y así seguimos 😉. Es un entorno multilingüe y divertido, perfecto para compartir experiencias y aprender unos de otros. 🇬🇧 Languages in the family Language shapes everything in our lives, as it is essential in our family. We have a Spanish-speaking environment, with mom as a native speaker; mom and the girls speak Spanish, and dad tries to keep up. Dad, Lebanese, speaks Arabic to the girls, and mom doesn’t speak Arabic and asks them what dad said. Between mom and dad, we speak English, because that’s how we met and that’s how we continue 😉. It’s a multilingual and fun environment, perfect for sharing experiences and learning from each other.

  Unterkunft

  🇬🇧 Accommodation, facilities and meals
  
  We offer accommodation within our house, but with a certain level of independence, as it is a spacious room with its own entrance, equipped with a double bed, desk, and wardrobe, and a large window overlooking the exterior patio. Through another door, the room connects to the house, where the bathroom and kitchen are shared with the family.
  
  The room has unlimited Wi-Fi and a study area, and the volunteer can use the common areas, such as the living room and patio.
  
  Regarding meals, we usually eat at home three times a week and would be happy for the workawayer to join us. On the other days, or if we are not at home, they can use whatever is available and also have their own space in the fridge and freezer.
  
  🇪🇸 Alojamiento, comodidades y comida
  
  Ofrecemos alojamiento dentro de nuestra casa, aunque con cierta independencia, ya que se trata de una habitación amplia con su propia entrada, equipada con cama doble, escritorio y armario, y un ventanal grande al patio exterior de la casa. Por otra puerta, la habitación se comunica con la casa, donde se comparte baño y cocina con la familia.
  
  La habitación cuenta con wifi ilimitado y espacio para estudiar, y el voluntario puede usar las zonas comunes, como el salón y el patio.
  
  En cuanto a la comida, solemos comer en casa tres veces por semana y estaríamos encantados de que el workawayer se uniera a nosotros. El resto de los días, o si no estamos en casa, puede usar lo que tengamos disponible y también tener su propio espacio en el frigorífico y congelador.

  We don’t smoke inside the house, and smoking is not allowed indoors, although it is permitted in the outside patio.
  
  We don’t have pets.
  
  No driving license is required, as living in the city center allows you to walk to many places or take the bus easily.
  
  We love the sea and sailing on a sailboat.
  
  🇪🇸 Información de interés:
  
  No fumamos en casa y no está permitido fumar dentro, aunque sí se puede fumar en el patio exterior.
  
  No tenemos mascotas.
  
  No es necesario permiso de conducir, ya que al vivir en el centro se puede caminar a muchos lugares o tomar el bus fácilmente.
  
  Nos gusta el mar y navegar en velero.
