Beschreibung
We are an Aussie/PNG family who are beginning a new life in Goroka, Papua New Guinea. We need help finishing off our house and music studio build, getting a herb garden happening for our restaurant and any additional skills or knowledge that can be passed onto our 6 yr old son who we currently home school.
The home build: Frame, roof, walls, electrical wiring and half the flooring is complete. What is left to complete is:
- lay floorboards
- build beds, wardrobes and desks
- install doors
- build kitchen cupboards and cooking island
- create a riverstone fireplace & chimney
- build a deck/verandah
- construct a toilet/shower room
We already have plans/designs for everything, extra helpers/labourers where needed, most tools, electricity and many local hardware and timber suppliers. We need help from an experienced carpenter or wood-worker to help finish the more refined parts of a home.
The Studio Build: We currently have a cement slab layed and have engaged a local brick supplier to build the shell of the building. We will need help with:
- internal shelving
- build desk, cupboards etc.
The Garden:
We are starting a food business and need someone with some experience in vegetable gardening to :
- design a commercial (but small) herb garden
- prepare the land and plant
- maintain and harvest produce
- have a grow plan for succession harvesting
Bonuses:
Some skills or knowledge to teach our son which could include:
- maths, science, english, french, hebrew, japanese, mandarin or italian.
- woodworking
- art
- music

You will be staying in rural Papua New Guinea in a small village and surrounded by a bigger village where people don’t see too many foreigners so there will be a natural curiosity . There will be opportunities to meet lots of people, take hikes and tours around the area to experience the largely untouched beauty and a view of how subsistent people exist. There are surrounding provinces to visit quite close by. One of the fun things in this particular experience would be travelling up the mountain by car, buying fresh strawberries from the top of the mountain and finding/ buying timber from roadside sellers to continue building the house.
You will be extremely nutritious and tasty diet of root vegetables and greens with some meat. The markets in town also have a great variety of cheap juicy fruit. There are also supermarkets and chemist should you require something particular.Projekte mit Kindern
