Celacanto is the home of a great mission centering on strength in community, supporting local goods, and making the earth a more beautiful place. Geri and Carla are the wonderful people who manage the place along with Rachel and Giuseppe— they’re brilliant characters and their hearts are in the right place. I stayed in the hostel portion of the

I was very happy with the work and with the daily life at Celacanto. I was given access to an ample kitchen, and the library available for perusal was considerable. Rino, the resident cat and ruler, is a friendly personality and excellent company. The views from the house and the detailed beauty of the shoreline and all the surrounding countryside are beyond description. If you’re keen on biking or walking about, this place is an unfathomable well of intrigue. I also went foraging a time or two, finding a great many interesting local plants. I was well taken care of by Geri and Carla; when I was sick they brought me tea and things to expedite my recovery. They were always very patient with me and took great amounts of time to explain cultural things, and I enjoyed exchanging language lessons with them in English and Italian. They even brought me along to a meeting of local nonprofit associations, to hear the discussion and learn of the good being done around the community by organizations like the one here. Rachel was a great reference for all things local, and took time to be sure I knew of all the good things to do and see around Tricase. This is the sort of place where community is primary, and there is so much to be learned and to do for the good. The kindness I was shown here will remain with me, and I hope to come back soon. Grazie per tutto!
I spent two weeks in Celacanto, i miss it already. Geri and Carla have a big heart and a good humour. All the people from the organization and from Tricase are really amazing. I am just sad that i couldn't understand all there were talking about because all the projects in Celacanto are really interesting. If you want to see the south of Italy i

Our days in Celacanto have been just wonderful. It´s like an oasis that constantly provides beautiful people and magic experiences. The guardians of the place, Carla and Geri, are absolutely kind and thoughtful persons. Their ideals of protecting nature and the intention of providing a place where local markets and cultural events can be held are
… read more clear from the first start: they recicle everything, vegetables come from farmer friends from the zone and music is always present (Geri is a maestro of swing music).
We are absolutely grateful for how we were received in this piece of paradise on Earth. We left Celacanto with our souls filled.
The sea is always at sight (even from the bedrooms and when you work in the garden), the house is in absolute harmony thanks to the toughtful eye of Carla and Geri and all the Celacanto´s friends (everything is nice, and clean and functional).
During our stay we painted the fence, we cooked and helped with some carpentry labour. We were able to organize our hours as we wanted. There is a natural swimming pool 5 minutes walking from the house so you can always enjoy a good swim whenever you want.
We ate amazing italian meals, we started our adventure of speaking the amazing italian language and we delighted ourselves with amazing human beings.
I hope in the future I can come back to this place that already felt like home.

Geri and Carla are two incredibly strong humans. I had a really wonderful time staying at Celacanto. They are extremely hard-workers, always managing the asociation so that it keeps growing and growing, and so far they have done an excellent work because the place is really beautiful. After volunteering two weeks in Celacanto, I consider myself
… read more part of the community and would love to go back in the future. There's a lot of work to do but they are very flexible and peaceful, their saying is: "Piano piano, viene il belo", which means "Step by step, beauty comes". I've learnt a lot from them, and since I was there I've repeated that phrase to myself all the time. Geri is a great musician, you would really enjoy listening to his Gypsy Swing band. Carla is a relly strong and nice woman, she's very affectionate and a real warrior. As they are very busy with events going on at their place, sometimes they don't have the time to cook for you, but that's not a problem because you can access all the facilities of Celacanto, use the kitchen, but it's necessary to leave everything clean and tidy as to keep the cleanliness and beauty of the place. They really care for the environment and that was really encouraging for myself.
At my stay, I had to paint the fence with my friend Rocío, polish some wood tables, and help cook and clean when there were people coming.
I really recommend Celacanto, the town is very cultural, you will be meeting a lot of nice local people and have very refreshing baths in the natural sea swimming pools that are 500 m from the place. The landscape is wonderful and the history of the place very interesting.
I hope I'll go back in the future. Thank you so much for this opportunity.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
