  Beschreibung

  Hello workaway-friends,
  We, Cord and Sabine, are living on a former organic farm in a small village close to Hameln, the town of the Pied Piper/ flautista de Hamelín. The agricultural work is ended up, but contact with nature and still a few small animals and a sustainable way of life still pushes us on. We need help (4-5 hours a day/5 days a week) around the property. The kind of work depends on the time of the year: From grubbing potatoes till harvesting apples and preserving jam, maintenance of the buildings and rooms, mowing the lawn and gardening, caring for the chickens or looking after the sheeps etc.
  We are in our early 60s and enjoy cycling tours through the surrounding forest & fields with our dog, cultural, cooking and campfire evenings with friends and like to be a contact point for many people from the village and the surrounding area to drop by for a spontaneous visit.
  Our son Leander had great experiences with volunteering in Ireland and Spain. That was the reason for us to start this adventure at home as well! Our children Nora and Leander moved out from home for studying, traveling and working but they come back for a few days from time to time. It´s always wonderful to have young people around us.

  We are super interested in cultural exchange with you. Especially in the evenings, we enjoy talking in the garden in summer and sitting in front of the fireplace in winter.

  Arbeit

  We would prefer helpers for a minimum stay of 2 weeks, but when you are looking for a shorter time, don´t be shy to ask anyway. We speak German and English and Cord speaks a little bit French, too. If you are interested in learning a practical trade or how to use tools, Cord is a great teacher. When it comes to gardening, you usually have Sabine right by your side with exciting tips and tricks - the only thing you need to bring along is curiosity and the will to get involved.

  Unterkunft

  You will have your own room in our house and get of course all the food you need and can taste the german way of cooking. A regional nutrition is important to us and we try to use a lot from our own cultivation in our garden as a basis. You also have a good WLAN connection at your disposal. If you wish to make your own music, a piano is available in our private rooms by agreement.

  Was noch ...

  In the summertime there is a lovely open air pool in the next village, soccer and tennis-yards and nice possibilities for cycling and walking in the fields and forests around our home. Our home village with about 400 inhabitants is 8 kilometers away from the city center of Hamelin and has got a good public transport. You need about 20 minutes by bus or 25-30 minutes by bike, which we will provide you as a matter of course. Hameln is a good destination for starting weekend-trips to bigger towns like Hannover, Hamburg, Bremen, Göttingen,… of course we would help you with your travel plans. Hameln itself is a small, historical town with about 50.000 inhabitants and a lot of pretty bars, cafés, boutiques, a cinema and theatre, public swimming pools, smaller and bigger events...
  
  We have already had some great experiences with helpers from all over the world (Europe, Asia, North America) who came to us via the HelpX platform. Since May 2023, we have also been represented as hosts here on workaway.
