  Dear workawayers,
  
  we are Joël and Jana, a couple in their early 30s, managing a mountain hut on 1500m in the italian part of Switzerland. Our hut offers 20 places to sleep and a restaurant, where we serve local and traditional cuisine. The hut is reachable by car, followed by a short walk. The surrounding nature, with it´s view on the mountains makes it a popular spot for hikers, families and nature lovers.
  
  Joel is a professional chef, passionate about everything involving food :) and I have many years of experience in the hospitality sector. We both met on the Camino de Santiago and love to go hiking and camping.

  Our hut is a place where people enjoy the tranquility of nature. As we are living secluded and don’t have shops etc close you will experience a slow kind of living. You will be able to learn about the culture of Ticino and the way of life in a mountain hut. You get to try the local cuisine and products, and if you're interested even learn some local recipes.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for open minded individuals who can help us mainly in the service in the restaurant, as well as with basic kitchen tasks. There’s also always something to do around the hut, organizing and cleaning or fixing stuff. We also would appreciate help with our website or social media.

  Dieser Gastgeber bietet Sprachaustausch an
  Joël´s mother language is Italian, and mine German. Together we speak English. I think our environment is perfect if you want to learn Italian, German or English, cause we use all three languages on a daily basis. A basic level of Italian is required for this position, you don't need to speak perfectly, just the basics are enough or the willingness to learn- I am learning Italian too, so we can motivate each other :)

  Unterkunft

  You will be staying in our shared bedroom, which has 16 beds.
  If you wish you can also stay in a tent, which we’ll provide, just outside in our backyard, with a great view on the stars! :) Bathroom/shower is shared with guests.

  -WORKING HOURS
  2-4h /day, 3-5 days a week, depends on how busy we get, but max 18hrs/week
  
  -PAYMENT:
  You will be paid 20chf/hour.
  Sleeping in our dormitory is offered, and you will get 50% discount on any menu items.
  In case you come with public transport, we'll pick you up and drop you off (preferably Monday).
  
  -❗if you are a traveller, who is looking for a paid position to make money, this is not the right place for you. We do offer payment, but we only pay up to 18hrs/week, the rest of the time you'll be free. Because there is no supermarket etc. around you will most likely spend the money you earn on food. We would like to be able to pay for more hours and offer free food, but as we are a small business, which depends on good weather and a good summer season, we can't afford paying a full-time position and also don't require that much help. We thank you for your understanding!
  
  -NO WIFI, reception is usually but not always reliable
  
  -We accept stays from min 1 week to max 4 weeks
  
  -What to do in your free time:
  As we are half an hour drive or 3 hours walk away from the city and only go down once a week for shopping, you will probably spend most of your time in and around the hut. There is a beautiful hike you can do which leads to another mountain hut and eventually to the mountain behind us. On your off days there’s also the opportunity to catch a ride with guests or friends so you can go into the valley and explore beautiful Ticino. As Joël is from the area he will definitely lay out the perfect non-touristic program for you 😜 there are beautiful fresh rivers, traditional and charming villages and of course the Lake Maggiore.
  
  -there are some nice climbing spots around
  
  -Our work schedule depends mostly on the weather. When it´s sunny, we are very busy, when it´s raining, we might have no one around
  
  -we expect workawayers to also be able to entertain themselves, especially during their free time. As we'll be working basically the whole time, and need to be available for guests arriving anytime, we don't have much time to show you around, but definitely will advise you on things to do.

  We have a parking space which is very suitable for campers. The street up to our hut is managed by the town and has a mandatory street fee of CHF 5/24hrs.

  Hier sind Haustiere in der Regel willkommen

  We are absolute animal lovers and would be happy to have a dog around! Unfortunately dogs can't sleep upstairs in the rooms as the wooden floor would be easily damaged. Dogs can sleep on the main floor though, they don't have to stay outside. We have many visitors with dogs, so your dog needs to be well behaved. As we are surrounded by cows it's crucial to always keep an eye on the dog.
