We are located in the idyllic valley of Lorinna; an active, vibrant rural community with a strong co-operative ethos, frequent communal events and working bees, a food co-op, abundant wildlife and wonderfully clean soil, air and water.
We live on a property with several other households with whom we share work and resources and a stand-alone photovoltaic and micro-hydro power system.
We are a family of four with an 8-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son whom we homeschool with a natural learning approach.

Travellers will get to experience the unique joys of living in a remote, beautiful community.
We want your stay to be exciting and educational and are very happy to take the time to share any skills we have and for you to pursue your particular interests.
Nick is a keen artist and specialises in printmaking and sculpture. Arana has studied architecture, ecology and permaculture. We are both passionate about sustainability, creativity, good food and living a rich, responsible, joy-filled life
We like to balance work with play and are outdoor recreation enthusiasts. We have both worked as guides and rangers in the nearby Cradle Mountain - Lake St Claire National Park and are happy to take you on adventures exploring the local area. We have white water kayaks, sea kayaks, bikes and bushwalking equipment which you may be able to borrow.
Last year we returned from a five month bicycle trip through Europe (planned around visiting some of the amazing friends we've made through hosting volunteers). We are keen to further embrace the joys of simplicity and outdoor living and are now building a tiny house from reclaimed materials to allow us to live a more simple minimalist, adventurous lifestyle. We primarily need help playing with the children while we build or skilled people to help with construction. Other projects we may be working on include playing in the garden, chopping firewood, planning the permaculture garden/ food forest for the new house, building a chicken house, creating art projects, building a cob outhouse, making compost, finishing work on our shared light earth studio and helping out with projects and events in the wider community.
Given our current commitments, at present we are only able to host people who are have building skills or are happy to play with the children (which is pretty easy and fun) and/or help out with cleaning and cooking to free us up to work more on the house.
Accommodation is in bedrooms in our existing house or in our guest house (the little building pictured in our profile photo)
We typically work 4 hours a day Monday-Friday, 2 hours on Saturday morning and then take Sunday off but we're very flexible. In summer we swim in Lake Cethana every afternoon. When the weather gets cooler we enjoy cosying up and playing cards and board games
Meals are vegetarian with an emphasis on wholefoods and local and organic ingredients.
Happy to organise pick up from Devonport, Launceston and sometimes Hobart. We have no wifi and only Telstra phone reception but we're happy to make a hotspot with our phones if internet is needed.
Individuals, couples and families welcome.
