English Husband Japanese Wife renovating a Japanese traditional House and surrounding farmland
Based In Kasama Ibaraki, famous for Pottery and Chestnuts
Located in the rural country side surrounded by rice fields and rolling hills
Close to the train station, with fast connections to Mito ( 20 minutes ) and Tokyo ( 90 minutes )
We have just completed a dedicated Lodge for accommodation and workshop with all modern facilities
Please Note -this is work in progress many of the images on our website are what the project will look like in weeks, months, and year to come and will be the main project you will work on. We are also working closely with Ageing population and will be helping support them during harvest time on a food exchange program, we are not planning to ask for any business-related help, involving paying guests or spaces used by them.

The Cultural exchange, Includes interaction with Japanese people, experiencing a different pace of life including social life, work esthetics, religion and customs ( Shinto - means the way of the gods. Shintoism believe that spiritual powers exist in the natural world. )
People in the country side are exceptionally friendly and welcoming very respectful honest and polite traits which you will enjoy and embrace and will become part of your lifestyle too.
The Japanese countryside is very different than the Big Cities , the pace is slow the people very friendly, the seasons bring on a constant change from freshly harvest fruit and vegetables to cooling down with Ice cold Watermelon in the Summer to warming up on a winters night roasting chestnuts on an open fire
There are many local annual festivals and events from Fireworks, Pottery, Chestnut, Sake , and many, many more
We Paul and Tina - look forward to sharing our knowledge Skills and experiences with you, be it Wood working , Gardening , Cooking , Japanese traditions and much more – we want you to choose activities that you will enjoy and takeaway a learning experience and memories to last a life time, we sincerely hope you will make a tangible contribution and that you will return and see how your efforts have flourished

There is a range of different tasks available suitable for all skill levels we have over 40 Year’s experience and will be pleased to teach you skills that you will be able to enjoy for years to come

Newly renovated 100 Year old Kominka ( Japanese house )
Japanese Style Tatami living / sleeping room with snug loft space can sleep 5 adults
2 Toto Japanese modern toilets, shower unit,
Kitchen/ Dining area with balcony
The Building is an independent facility that can accommodate up to 5 single dorm style guests or a large family – fully modernized with all necessities cooker, fridge, internet connection, shower, toilet,
( Coin )laundry.
(Please note is Japanese style, which is a Make Yourself Futon on a tatami floor)
Meals and Transport
Alternate Japanese and European Lunch ( Typically 1.30pm )
Please note we are unable the cater for any type of special diat
Japanese Seasonal meals, Each working day a full hearty Lunch meal after work is finished ( option to help prepare and cook Japanese food ) will be provided in the Main House
