  We are a family composed of Stefania, Sergio and our seven year old daughter. I am a self-employed professional in the wellness sector, and my husband is an art teacher at the public school. We live in a small country village near Rome and we have a beautiful, large piece of countryside where in our free time we love to relax, pursue our interests, and spend time with our cat Sally Brown. We offer hospitality in exchange for some help with gardening and ordinary maintenance. The place where we live is a beautiful area that offers travelers unspoiled nature and tiny medieval villages to visit, about an hour by train from Rome.
  
  
  Siamo una famiglia composta da Stefania, Sergio e nostra figlia di 7 anni. Sono una professionista autonoma nel settore del benessere, mentre mio marito è un insegnante di arte nella scuola pubblica. Viviamo in un paesino di campagna, vicino a Roma, e abbiamo un bellissimo e grande pezzo di campagna dove nel tempo libero amiamo rilassarci, dedicarci ai nostri interessi e stare in compagnia della nostra gattina Sally Brown. Offriamo ospitalità in cambio di un aiuto nel giardinaggio e nella manutenzione ordinaria. Il luogo in cui viviamo è una zona splendida, che offre ai viaggiatori natura incontaminata e piccoli borghi medievali da visitare, a circa un’ora di treno da Roma.

  Hosting volunteers is, for us, an opportunity for mutual enrichment. We enjoy sharing our experiences, our knowledge, and our simple and sustainable lifestyle, based on respect for the environment. This includes growing our own food and reusing discarded materials to create new objects.
  Depending on the season, you’ll have the chance to learn how to grow a vegetable garden, take care of plants and trees, help with the olive harvest, and contribute to creating harmonious green spaces or to the construction of outdoor furniture in natural materials (mainly wood) or reused.
  The skills you can learn with us range from painting with various techniques to artistic crafts, from small-scale woodworking to natural building using materials like wood and lime, from Italian (vegetarian) cooking to Pilates and physical exercise for body wellness.
  We’d love to share not only our skills, but also a bit of our daily life: our friends, local projects, and our food.
  Welcoming people from different cultures is a precious opportunity for us to improve our English skills and help you learn Italian.
  We’d also love to hear stories from your country — to learn about its history, the current political situation, and everyday life from the perspective of ordinary people.
  
  
  Ospitare volontari è per noi un’opportunità di arricchimento reciproco. Ci piace condividere le nostre esperienze, le nostre conoscenze e il nostro stile di vita semplice e sostenibile, basato sul rispetto per l’ambiente, che include l’autoproduzione di cibo e il riutilizzo di materiali scartati per creare nuovi oggetti. A seconda della stagione, potrai imparare a coltivare un orto, prenderti cura delle piante e degli alberi, partecipare alla raccolta delle olive, contribuire alla creazione di spazi verdi armoniosi o alla costruzione di arredi per l'esterno in materiali naturali (principalmente legno) o di riuso. Le competenze che puoi apprendere con noi spaziano dalla pittura con diverse tecniche all’artigianato artistico, dalla lavorazione del legno su piccola scala all’autocostruzione con materiali naturali come il legno e la calce, dalla cucina italiana (vegetariana) al Pilates e all’esercizio fisico per il benessere del corpo. Ci piacerebbe anche condividere non solo le competenze, ma anche un po’ della nostra quotidianità: i nostri amici, i progetti locali e il nostro cibo.
  Ospitare persone provenienti da culture diverse è per noi un’occasione preziosa per migliorare le nostre competenze linguistiche in inglese e aiutarti ad apprendere l’italiano.
  Inoltre ci piacerebbe ascoltare storie del tuo paese, conoscerne la storia, la situazione politica attuale e la vita quotidiana della gente comune in tutti i suoi aspetti.

  Arbeit

  Primarily, we are looking for help with gardening and ordinary maintenance. We are passionate about self-construction in wood and often enjoy making small outdoor furniture and containment structures with natural or recycled materials.
  We're not very good with languages: if you can help us learn English, we would be happy.
  We appreciate guests who have an empathetic and kind approach towards children, as we have a 7-year-old daughter who will inevitably interact with the people staying with us. This does not in any way imply an active role in childcare, nor any form of au pair duties.
  
  
  Principalmente, cerchiamo aiuto per il giardinaggio e per la manutenzione ordinaria. Siamo appassionati di autocostruzione in legno e spesso ci divertiamo a realizzare piccoli arredi per l'esterno e strutture di contenimento con materiali naturali o di riuso.
  Non siamo molto bravi con le lingue: se puoi aiutarci a migliorare il nostro inglese, ne saremmo felici. Apprezziamo gli ospiti che hanno un approccio empatico e gentile nei confronti dei bambini, poiché abbiamo una figlia di 7 anni che inevitabilmente interagirà con le persone che soggiornano con noi. Questo non implica in alcun modo un ruolo attivo nella cura della bambina, né alcun tipo di mansione da ragazzo/a alla pari.

  Unterkunft

  The accommodation is independent, located in the countryside, bordering a small forest, with a truly picturesque and charming hilly panorama. The place is quiet and isolated, mainly frequented by wild animals such as badgers, wild boars, hedgehogs, foxes, squirrels, roe deer, and various types of birds. Not far away, less than 1 km, is the town's historic center, with all its services. The guest house consists of a room with a double sofa bed and a bathroom, while in the other small building next door, which is used as a studio/workshop, you'll find the kitchen. There is no hot water, for now. Heating is only available in the guest house, using a wood stove, which can also be used to heat water. Electricity is generated by a small off-grid photovoltaic system, so it's not available continuously. There is no internet connection, and phone reception is limited. To connect to the internet, you can come to our house, which is 750 meters away (about a 10-minute walk). It is the ideal place if you want to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle, perfect for outdoor meditation... if you want to embark on a journey where you can also dedicate some time to the peace of your spirit, then it is the perfect place! We can host two people. As for meals, we offer a separate kitchen and provide groceries, so you can be independent. We'd also love to eat together sometimes, in the countryside or at our house in town, finding the best balance between sharing and independence. We are vegetarians.
  
  The village where we live is equipped with all the main services: post office, ATM, pharmacy, bar, supermarket, pizzeria, two restaurants, a delightful pastry shop, and several shops… In addition, on the outskirts of the historic center, there is a large public park (Parco Camuccini) unique in its kind, as it houses an extraordinary variety of centuries-old trees from around the world, including rare specimens such as the Ginkgo Biloba. The village is particularly lively during the summer, with festivals, parties, and cultural events (outdoor cinema, concerts, etc.). The surrounding area offers opportunities for trekking and mountain excursions, trips on the Tiber River, swimming and bathing in the Farfa stream, walks in the numerous nearby medieval villages, including the well-known village of the Abbey of Farfa. From our village, Rome is easily accessible in just over an hour by taking a bus to the nearest station (8 km away) and then the direct train to Rome, which runs approximately every half hour.
  
  
  
  L’alloggio è indipendente, situato in campagna, ai confini di un piccolo bosco, con un panorama collinare davvero pittoresco e affascinante. Il luogo è tranquillo e isolato, frequentato principalmente da animali selvatici come tassi, cinghiali, ricci, volpi, scoiattoli, caprioli e vari tipi di uccelli. Non lontano, meno di 1 km, si trova il centro storico del paese, con tutti i suoi servizi.
  La guest house è composta da una stanza con divano letto matrimoniale e un bagno, mentre nell’altro piccolo edificio accanto, utilizzato come studio/laboratorio, troverai la cucina. Attualmente non c’è acqua calda. Il riscaldamento è disponibile solo nella guest house, tramite una stufa a legna, che può anche essere usata per scaldare l’acqua. L’elettricità è prodotta da un piccolo impianto fotovoltaico off-grid, quindi non è disponibile in modo continuo. Non c’è connessione internet e la copertura telefonica è scarsa. Per connetterti a internet puoi venire a casa nostra, a 750 metri di distanza (circa 10 minuti a piedi). È il posto ideale se vuoi rilassarti e prenderti una pausa dal trambusto, perfetto per la meditazione all’aperto... se desideri intraprendere un viaggio dove puoi anche dedicare del tempo alla pace del tuo spirito, allora è il posto perfetto!
  Preferiamo ospitare 2 persone. Per quanto riguarda i pasti, mettiamo a disposizione la cucina indipendente fornendo la spesa, in modo da poter essere autonomi, ma ci piacerebbe anche mangiare insieme qualche volta, in campagna o nella nostra casa in paese, trovando il migliore equilibrio tra condivisione e autonomia. Noi siamo vegetariani.
  
  Il paese in cui viviamo è dotato di tutti i principali servizi: ufficio postale, bancomat, farmacia, bar, supermercato, pizzeria, due ristoranti, una deliziosa pasticceria e diversi negozi… Inoltre, alla periferia del centro storico, c’è un grande parco pubblico (Parco Camuccini) unico nel suo genere, poiché ospita una straordinaria varietà di alberi secolari provenienti da tutto il mondo, inclusi esemplari rari come il Ginkgo Biloba.
  Il paese è particolarmente vivace durante l’estate, con sagre, feste ed eventi culturali (cinema all’aperto, concerti, ecc.). I dintorni offrono opportunità di trekking e escursioni in montagna, gite sul Tevere, nuotate e bagni nel torrente Farfa, passeggiate nei numerosi borghi medievali vicini, incluso il famoso borgo dell’Abbazia di Farfa.
  Dal nostro paese, Roma è facilmente raggiungibile in poco più di un’ora prendendo l’autobus fino alla stazione più vicina (a 8 km) e poi il treno diretto per Roma, che passa circa ogni mezz’ora.

  The area where we live, the Sabina, offers the opportunity to visit beautiful medieval villages, go hiking and enjoy walks in nature, and savor excellent wine and genuine food at very low prices. To get around the area there is public transport, but keep in mind that it is not as frequent as in the city. The city of Rome can be reached by bus and train in about an hour and an hour and a half.
  
  La zona in cui viviamo, la Sabina, offre l’opportunità di visitare splendidi borghi medievali, fare escursioni e godersi passeggiate nella natura, oltre a gustare ottimi vini e cibi genuini a prezzi molto bassi. Per spostarsi nella zona ci sono i mezzi pubblici, ma tieni presente che non sono frequenti come in città. La città di Roma è raggiungibile con un autobus e un treno in circa un'ora/un’ora e mezza.
