  Hola All. I am Lena, 56 years old. Educated in horticulture / ecology and photography. I am from Denmark, but live in Southern Spain - Malaga province. I live at a rural place with land, nature, growing organic vegetables and fruit- except July and August when its too hot. I am a private person, retired early . My Finca is not a business and not selling any produce. I have dogs and cats. It’s an old house and finca (30.000m2) which I am constantly working on reforming. I am integrated in the Spanish culture. I live mostly plant based but if you like to eat meat etc it is not a problem here. Room for all! Smoking outdoor. Climate is mild here in winter time. There is a ski-resort 1,5 hr. away in Sierra Nevada, Granada province. All kinds of water sports along the coast. Yoga, pilates etc classes also down on the beach. Amazing hiking places around in the nature parks in the mountains. 30 min to Malaga Centro. Bus line from the coast 2,5 km down the mountain.
  
  The chores around here will be helping me with gardening, outdoor cleaning up, weeding, prepare fire wood, organizing etc, house chores, fixing things and helping with animals. There is a cat shelter outdoor where I catch stray cats to get sterilized. I have all kinds of electric tools and I am happy to teach in using them. I am also happy to help you learning Spanish. I speak English, Danish and Spanish ( not fluent).
  
  I live 2,5 km uphill from the beach in Benajarafe, 25 min east of Malaga Airport at Costa del Sol by car. with a view over the Mediterranean Sea. Busses drive along the coast.
  I have many years experience in the exchange student program volunteer work in Denmark (AFS) for young people in high school, and know about the culture differences that can be. And I will be helpful for you to meet new friends around here. I was an exchange student myself and also my oldest son.
  Malaga province is very international, where people settle from all over the world. And there are many things to do and explore.
  Also if you are creative or want to be, there is a crafting room for hand crafting, painting etc. here. I love the tranquil lifestyle here and I have nice Spanish Neighbors. And lots of sun mostly. And not to forget the siestas here from 14 pm! I have my siesta rest ( quiet time) every day mostly from 14.30-16.30. Also I like to get my nights sleep in peace!
  The work here is mainly in the mornings from around 8.00/9.00 to 13.00 about 4 hrs- unless we make other agreements. And 1 hour again around dinner time unless we make other agreements.

  I am pretty new on WorkAway, but only heard positive about it. And as the famous Danish writer/ story teller H.C. Andersen said: “To Travel is to Live”. So true. Cultural knowledge and understanding is so important in this world for peace.

  I hope we can share and learn about each other’s culture. The local pueblo has a very good community with many celebrations during the year.
  Learning about gardening and diy projects plus dog training if interested.

  Arbeit

  Helping me around outdoor with growing our food (vegetables and tropical fruit). Weeding, pruning fruit trees ( January) , cooking, shopping food, house chores and fixing / repair things, painting, some DIY.
  No need for workawayer to know it all ahead!

  Unterkunft

  You will have your own room. I have wifi in the house and terrace. Depending on who is coming here, there is a mobile home here with 2 bedrooms. it has bathroom /small kitchen. But still no wifi. But in near future will be installed.
  But other wise I think we can cook together or on turns. Whatever suits the best. I’m openminded. Cooking will be part of the work hours.
  I have all beddings, towels etc for using.

  The busses drive regularly from down the coast 2,5 km away from here in Benajarafe both east towards Torre del Mar- Nerja and west to Màlaga Centro.
  Benajarafe has lotsa restaurants and bars, a little supermarket, tobacco shop, pharmacy and more. And of course a nice beach.
  Màlaga Centro has a lot to offer. Torre del Mar, 15 min away from Benajarafe has a lot to offer too. Many shops etc. A shopping mall too. Check it out online!
  Benajarafe has its marked day on Saturdays from 10-14. Torre del Mar on Thursdays from 10-14, and Caleta de Velez Saturdays from 10-14.
