Beschreibung
We are a busy family living in a beautiful 19th century house in the Lee Valley near Cork City in Co Cork. We grow our own produce and we are looking for two workawayers to assist our gardener and give general help with maintenance around the property. The work is seasonal and mostly outdoors whenever the weather allows.
I (Belinda) am originally from London but have lived here in Ireland for the last 24 years. My husband (Peter) is often away travelling on business. We have four adult children who visit regularly. I work part-time as a furniture restorer.
We have three dogs and a cat so it is important that you are comfortable with animals around and not allergic!

We are an English-speaking family but have all travelled a great deal. Between us, we also speak German, French, Italian and Spanish. We enjoy meeting people from other cultures and would love to give you the chance to experience life in an Irish country house. In return for your help, you would have the chance to explore this beautiful part of south west Ireland, from East Cork, Cork City, Blarney Castle, the Wild Atlantic coastline of West Cork and Kerry. Dublin is 3 hours by bus so also accessible for weekend visits.
Arbeit
We are looking two people, either a couple or two friends who would like to spend time in rural Ireland exploring and learning about the culture here. In return, you will live in your own space in a historic courtyard in our grounds and assist our gardener with both gardening and maintenance jobs. Gardening tasks might include weeding, ground preparation, fruit picking in summer, clearing leaves or undergrowth, stacking wood, strimming and lawn mowing. General maintenance might include painting gates, small repairs, cleaning windows etc. The help is mostly outdoors though of course on wet days we would do our best to find suitable indoor tasks! We would want you to work three days per week, normally Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays though the days might change on occasion. We might also ask you to look after our dogs on occasions when we have to go away overnight

Unterkunft
You would have your own bedroom and bathroom in our beautiful courtyard. There is a double room (twin or double bed) with an ensuite bathroom. Adjacent is a small kitchen area where you could prepare simple meals. There is excellent wifi. It is a beautiful and peaceful spot and it is a short walk into the village where there is a pub and a bus stop with buses into Macroom and Cork city.

Our home is in a small village next to the River Lee. From our house you can walk to the village where there is a lively pub and local community. There is also a bus stop where you can take the bus into Cork city (25km) and to Macroom (7km). We also have bicycles which are you are welcome to use during your stay. From our house it is easy to explore Cork city, Blarney Castle, East and West Cork, the Wild Atlantic way along the south coast from Kinsale to Skibbereen and beyond as well as the mountains and coastline of Kerry. If you have your own car, that would be really useful if you want to explore this corner of Ireland as the buses are not that regular.
