IMPORTANT:
The heating season is here and the caravans are heated by wood-burning stoves ( I have CO alarms). So now I can only host people who can light a fire and use a wood-burning stove confidently. And who are familiar with other basics of countryside living: using a gas bottle stove for cooking, carrying heavier things (firewood, water jugs, toilet bucket), to make sure they can take care of their own physical basics for themselves. I will of course provide evsrything and show all the things need to know, and always welcome questions. But guests need to have a high level of independence for this exchange to be mutually beneficial. 🌿
CURRENT TASKS: Finishing interior of tiny house (walls, floor, ceiling insulation, furniture etc.), cutting and splitting firewood, preparing garden with thick mulch layer, mainly.
I'm Anna and in the last 3 years I've been building a small off-grid living space in the mountains and forest of Northern Hungary. I live on 2 hectares of forested land, surrounded by an untouched national park forest. It's a hiker's paradise, and the river Danube is only 10 km away, with many beaches for bathing during the summer, kayaking etc.
I have several wooden caravans ("gipsy wagon", "circus wagon") and volunteers will stay in one of them. My personal mission is to live in harmony with nature as much as possible (which is a goal, not an already accomplished instagram-aesthetic reality), and to live an authentic and deeply fulfilling life. I am not perfect, my place is not perfect, please only apply if you can accept and respect that.
I have a veggie garden and currently 15 cute quail as well.
I am 39, from Hungary, lived in the UK and travelled around Europe, India, the US.
I studied social anthropology, and have been on a deep inner journey most of my life, so I have a lot of experience with self-awareness, trauma-healing, therapies etc - super happy to share my knowledge of these tools. I love dancing, I do yoga every day, and I love building things with my own hands.
I CAN ONLY HOST PEOPLE WHO ARE PSYCHOLOGICALLY STABLE (ENOUGH ;) EVERYONE HAS SHITTY DAYS, OF COURSE ) , WHO ARE NOT IN ACTIVE ADDICTION, AND WHO HAVE A STABLE BACKGROUND TO RETURN TO. MY PLACE CANNOT BE ANYONE'S ESCAPE FROM HOMELESSNESS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!

Unterkunft
In a cute wooden caravan / tiny home on wheels. It has a gas stove, washing sink, drinking water dispenser, composting toilet, and even a small shower corner, although that is more comfortable outdoors during the summer. (Also has wood stove with CO-alarm for colder weather).
1 caravan has one pull-out couch for one person or a couple.
The other guest caravan has two separate sleeping cabins (separated by the kitchen / entry / common area) with 2 + 2 beds, I think it's comfortable for 3 people max.
I provide ingredients for 3 vegetarian meals per day, and there's a gas cooking stove in each caravan where volunteers can prepare their own food. I am happy to buy foods that you request.
I will also cook occasionally but volunteers mainly make their own food.

The place is pretty much in the middle of the forest plus some fields, it's a hikers' paradise with many official hiking routes so you can explore the moutains etc. The river Danube is only 10 km away, with lots of varied beaches, some big and fun and busy with bars and music, and some hidden and quiet. There are a lot of musical events in the larger area during the summer, and also a lot of alternative and like-minded people live around here so there are quite a few alternative bars. However these are 10km away so it's more comfortable to attend these by car. There is public transport but it's a bit scarce.
From Budapest, the village is about 1hr 10mins by bus and train, and then a 20min walk from the bus stop. Happy to meet you at the edge of the village :) (straight 10 min walk from the bus stop, i will provide an easy map :)

This depends on your job. You will be dependent on your own mobile internet, the network coverage is OK here for office work and video calls. I have m own mobile internet which I can share for the basics: checking emails, messages etc. but not for full days. I'm a freelance translator and I work with it, too. If you need more/stronger internet than this, you might be able to go to a nearby town's library .

Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans
We can find space for a van or small caravan.

Hier sind Haustiere in der Regel willkommen
There are no fences around the property, and neither around the veggie garden. Dogs are welcome (max 2 at a time) but must be well behaved to respect the garden and any birds I may have. Cats are more than welcome :))

I came with one other volonteer on a rainy and muddy day. Anna made her best to welcome us with a meal and extra blankets for the night.
The place is peaceful and beautiful. I experienced freedom there. You can do some walks or visits whenever you want… read more
