Beschreibung
Welcome to our home in Lofoten.
We live in Sandsletta, about 25 km north of Svolvær, surrounded by mountains, the ocean and the open landscape that makes this part of northern Norway so special. Our home is located on an older rural property where we enjoy a quiet life close to nature.
Your hosts are Anne and Roy. This is our home, and we live a simple and down-to-earth life here. Much of our time goes into small projects around the property, everyday tasks, and spending time outdoors whenever the weather allows it.
We enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and sharing a little of what everyday life can be like in Lofoten. For us, Workaway is mainly about cultural exchange – good conversations, new perspectives and creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Living in a place like this means there are always small things to take care of. Sometimes we spend time outside maintaining the outdoor areas, other times we work on small projects around the house or in the garden. Life here moves at a fairly relaxed pace, and the rhythm of the days is often shaped by the weather and the seasons.
We appreciate people who enjoy nature, who are comfortable in quiet surroundings, and who are happy to lend a hand with small everyday tasks while staying here. No special skills are required – a positive attitude and curiosity about life in a different place are more important.
Lofoten offers incredible nature and many opportunities to explore. From here you can discover mountains, beaches and coastal landscapes. During summer we have the midnight sun, and in winter there are good chances to see the northern lights.
We hope that staying with us will give you a small glimpse into life in this part of the world, while we also get the opportunity to meet and learn from people from other places.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
When people stay with us, they get the chance to experience everyday life in a rural part of Lofoten and see what life can be like in northern Norway.
We enjoy sharing stories about the area, the landscape and the history of this region. Lofoten has a long and fascinating coastal culture, and we like to talk about how people have lived and worked here over time.
Living here also means being close to nature. The rhythm of daily life often follows the seasons, the weather and the light conditions that are so characteristic of the north.
Depending on the time of year, you may experience the midnight sun during summer or the northern lights during the darker months.
For us, hosting Workawayers is mainly about cultural exchange — meeting people from different places, sharing everyday life and learning from each other.
Arbeit
We are looking for friendly and motivated people who enjoy practical tasks and spending time outdoors.
The help we ask for is related to our private home and property, and mainly consists of small everyday projects that are part of living in a place like this.
Tasks can vary depending on the season and what needs to be done, but may include things like:
helping in our private kitchen garden
keeping outdoor areas tidy and pleasant
small maintenance projects around the house
painting or simple improvement projects
light cleaning and practical tasks indoors
helping with small everyday tasks that come up
None of the tasks are complicated, and no special skills are required. What matters most to us is a positive attitude and a willingness to help.
We normally ask for around 4–5 hours of help per day, five days a week, leaving plenty of free time to explore the beautiful nature of Lofoten.
A driver’s license is not required, but it can be helpful if you would like to explore more of the area during your stay.
We appreciate people who are positive, flexible and comfortable staying in a quiet rural area.

Unterkunft
You can stay either together with us in the main house or in a comfortable camper trailer located on the property. The camper is of good quality and provides a cozy and private place to stay.
If you stay in the camper, you will of course have access to all facilities in the house, including kitchen, bathroom, shower, toilet and laundry.
We want everyone who stays with us to feel comfortable and welcome, and we try to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where people feel at home during their stay.

There are many beautiful hiking opportunities in the mountains surrounding where we live, with trails that offer stunning views of the fjords, the ocean and the dramatic Lofoten landscape. The area is perfect for exploring nature and enjoying the quiet outdoors.
Fishing opportunities are plentiful, with many good spots along the fjord and the nearby coastline.
During winter, the mountains around us often offer excellent conditions for backcountry and freeride skiing for those who enjoy skiing in untouched nature.
Depending on the season, you may also experience the midnight sun during summer or the northern lights during the darker months of the year.

Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans
Yes, we also welcome Workawayers who travel with a campervan or motorhome. We have good, well-prepared parking spots on the farm where campervans and caravans can stay. The area is quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature. Guests staying with their own vehicle will also have access to sanitary facilities connected to the farm. This can be a great option if you prefer to stay in your own camper while helping out on the farm.

Scott (5 Jahren)
We also have a Border Collie named Scott. He is an energetic working dog who absolutely loves sheep and being out in the fields.
Scott takes his job on the farm very seriously and spends much of his time watching the sheep and moving around the farm. Like many working Border Collies, he is often more interested in animals and activity than in people.
He is also extremely fascinated by cars and will happily keep a close eye on any vehicle that comes or goes from the farm.
Scott is generally friendly but not particularly interested in attention from visitors, and he usually prefers to keep a bit of distance. With some people he can be a little cautious at first, so it is best to give him space and let him get used to you in his own time.
Once he understands that you are part of the daily life on the farm, he usually relaxes and continues focusing on his important work.
