Set on the border of the magnificent Bokor National Park, we are a small team of people helping to clean up Cambodia by taking recyclable, and non recyclable materials and turning them into building materials. We then install the buildings such as homes and businesses around Cambodia.

Our project is headed by myself and two friends, with whom I've worked for several years. Our aim is to incorporate all of the rubbish here into recycled, affordable, building materials.

We recently inherited the machinery and land you see in the photos, from a man who set this up for personal use, but has had to leave for health reasons. He was making earth blocks, we will be adding various waste materials to make recycled bricks and other building materials. We have invested in an electric tuk tuk (soon to charged by solar panels) to collect glass bottles and other recyclable materials from around town. We aim to start collecting used cooking oil from restaurants and send it to our associate in Siem Reap, who converts it into bio-diesel. We can then buy the bio-diesel from him and run the majority of our machinery from it.

Ultimately we want to create a company that has as little a carbon footprint as possible. The company itself will be producing zero carbon footprint housing. This really is a unique opportunity and certainly a first of its kind in Cambodia!

Volunteers will have the chance to work all over Cambodia helping to build houses, businesses, schools and whatever else is needed. They can also help teach the younger generation the importance of recycling and the harms of single use plastics.

Between the three founding members of this project, we have a combined total of about 15 years in various professions in Cambodia. We really believe we can make this work. Our aim is to donate a percentage of our materials to families, community projects and/or charities in need.
While living on the island of Koh Rong, I regularly gave a percentage of profits from my eco packaging company to a local school; I, and two of my partners, raised money to build and then run a Western-standard Medical Centre, offering free healthcare to locals and donation-based healthcare to tourists. We ran the volunteer Fire Brigade on the island too.

We know a lot about community projects in Cambodia; we know what we're doing is a good thing. We also know that it's hard to get projects like this off the ground without help from willing and able volunteers.

Please get in touch if you think this is something that interests you. We want as many volunteers as possible -
"Many Hands Make Light Work" - and all that!

We look forward to hearing from you.

There is a ton of work to be done here which is ongoing. Currently we are still clearing some land, installing more machinery and clearing old materials to be reused. By the end of September 2018, we should be fully functioning - producing bricks, roof tiles, floor tiles, counter tops, solar water heaters, tarpaulin etc, all from recycled materials. You name it, we do it! There are a lot of processes involved with recycling materials, so any extra pair of hands is a bonus. Experience in construction or previous eco-related projects is not essential, but obviously useful.

Essentially, we are building houses and other structures from recycled materials, but there's much more to it than that. There's landscaping, foundation laying, brick laying, graphic designing, modelling, installing, materials collecting, building, wiring, plumbing, gardening, machine maintenance, advertising, but most importantly of all....learning new skills and teaching as we go.

Once we are fully functioning and have the display home finished we will be inviting local schools to visit to see what we do. We can teach them about the harms of single use plastic, especially burning it, and demonstrate ways to reuse and recycle what we already have.

We also plan to donate 1 or 2 bricks for every 20 that we produce to a community project. For example, when we have enough bricks to make a room then we will approach local schools and see if they need a new classroom built, or perhaps an extension for a local medical centre, or even a family living in real poverty. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

Volunteers will be involved in as much, or as little as they wish. They will have the opportunity to build these jobs across the country, or they are welcome to just chill in Kampot and help us out around the yard.
There is ALWAYS something to do ;)

We currently offer free accommodation in the form of hammocks at a local guesthouse. Its is a beautiful setting, right on the river. Super chilled atmosphere and full of great people.

There are other sleeping arrangements available at the guesthouse and around Kampot so if you would like to sort out your own accommodation then we are also happy to give our advice on what's available. Whatever you decide to do, please give us at least 48hrs notice so that we can reserve you a place if necessary.

Any volunteers that come and help will also be offered the cheapest scooter rental price in Kampot if you want it. This allows you guys to come and go as you like and also maybe do a bit of exploring in your free time. Alternatively we can pick you up in our electric tuk tuk if you are not so confident on a bike and take you to and from the workplace.

If we get a consistent flow of volunteers then we have the option to renovate the house on the land and turn it into a dormitory. It has a kitchen that would allow volunteers to prepare their own food as and when they want it as well but we are not quite at that stage yet.

Super laid back atmosphere. Volunteers will have flexible hours. Any previous experience in construction would be a benefit, but not essential. Protective equipment and tools provided.

Kampot is a nice, quiet, riverside town, but still has a few hidden party spots depending on what you're in the mood for. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars, many of which overlook the river.
An absolute must here in Kampot is to ride up (and then down again) Bokor Mountain, of which we are lucky enough to have a perfect view from our workshop (see photos).
Bokor Mountain is part of Bokor National Park which boasts some amazing views, cultural history, and also houses the largest population of Asian elephants still left in the wild.
There's no shortage of things to do here.

We have two large dogs on site which serve as guard dogs. They're even-tempered, very friendly, more likely to knock you over in enthusiastic greeting, than bite you! If you're not a fan of dogs, please let us know beforehand and we'll shut the gate, so that they'd stay in the house side whilst we're working.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
