Hello! My name is Sokear, and I am the founder of Foreign Language School. Our school was established in 2013 in a rural community in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, with the mission of providing free and affordable English education to children who have limited access to learning opportunities.
The school is located about 60 km east of Siem Reap city. The journey takes approximately 40–60 minutes by bus or minivan from Siem Reap and about 4–5 hours from Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city.
Our students come from nearby villages and attend our school to improve their English and computer skills, helping them prepare for high school, university, and future employment opportunities.
How to Get Here
From Phnom Penh to the school
Take any bus or minivan traveling from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Please tell the driver you would like to get off at Kampong Kdei Market (ផ្សារកំពង់ក្តី), which is about 60 km before reaching Siem Reap city. You can simply show the Khmer text "ផ្សារកំពង់ក្តី" to the driver.
Travel time: approximately 4–5 hours
Cost: around US$15
From Siem Reap city to the school
Take a bus or minivan heading toward Phnom Penh and ask to stop at Kampong Kdei Market (ផ្សារកំពង់ក្តី)
Travel time: approximately 1 hour

We will be happy to arrange pickup from Kampong Kdei Market once you let us know your arrival time.
Our Students and Class Schedule
We teach children aged 10–12 years old in two daily sessions from Monday to Friday
Morning Class
7:00 am – 10:00 am
Break: 8:40 am – 9:00 am
Afternoon Class
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Break: 2:40 pm – 3:00 pm
We also have a group of local high school students who attend an English class from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Teaching Experience
Don't worry if you've never taught before—we'll help you get started.
On your first day, you'll observe one of our Khmer teachers to learn about the students, classroom routine, and teaching methods. Once you feel comfortable, you'll teach either independently or together with another volunteer if you arrive with a friend.
We use structured English textbooks, and every student has their own copy, making lessons easy to follow. We encourage volunteers to teach mainly in English, using drawings, gestures, games, and simple explanations. Google Translate can be helpful when needed, and our local team is always available to support you.
Volunteers usually teach 3–4 hours per day. You can let us know if you prefer teaching in the morning or afternoon, and we'll do our best to accommodate your preference. If you have no preference, we'll assign you to the class where your help is most needed.
We look forward to welcoming you to our community and sharing an unforgettable cultural and educational experience together. Your time, energy, and kindness will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. -

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
You will learn more about Cambodia and our people through the conversation that occurs in the classroom or outside class rooms when you travel around the villages.
The school closes at the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, you can travel around the school to see the villages and countryside by walking or cycling which is the best way to interact and immerse with local peoples and culture.
Cambodian people are friendly, they are happy to answer your questions with smiling.
As we can accept 4 volunteers at the same time, you have a chance to meet other volunteers that come from the other parts of the world to exchange your skills and thoughts to learn from each other in respect ways. The school also can organize a bike tour around the remote village where you will see the amazing scenery and landscape of the countryside. -

Unterkunft
Since we moved the location of the school to the other place just near by which is smaller then the old place so we do not have any bed room for volunteers but we rent a room at a guest house just 3 minutes by walking from the school and the school will pay for that. We provide two times meals, lunch and dinner. All teachers and volunteers join meals all together at school.

Volunteering your time is already a wonderful gift to our students, and we never expect financial support. If, during your stay, you see the positive impact this project has on children and the local community and wish to contribute, any donation is warmly welcomed. Your generosity helps us keep our doors open and continue providing educational opportunities to children who need them most.
