A stay at the ranch offers a chance to experience life on a working ranch in the Yukon wilderness. You’ll learn about caring for horses and livestock, seasonal farm work, and what it takes to live in a remote northern environment where the rhythm of the seasons shapes daily life.

Living here also offers a chance to step away from the pace of modern life. With fewer conveniences, meaningful physical work, and time spent outdoors, many helpers discover a renewed appreciation for simple living and the satisfaction that comes from contributing to something real.

While Workaway helpers are not directly involved with farm program participants, they become part of the team that quietly supports this work by caring for the land, animals, and facilities that make it possible. Many people leave with a deeper appreciation for the connection between healthy land, healthy animals, and healthy communities.

Above all, we hope you’ll leave with practical skills, new friendships, confidence in your abilities, and memories of life in Canada’s North that will stay with you long after your visit.

We are grateful for help with all aspects of ranch life, including farm operations, field work, housekeeping, maintenance, and animal care.

We ask our helpers to stay for a minimum of four weeks whenever possible, as it takes time to learn the routines and become part of the rhythm of the ranch.

Life here is active and physically demanding. Enjoying hands-on work and being outdoors in all kinds of weather will help you have a rewarding experience. Daily tasks may include feeding and watering animals, stacking firewood, cleaning buildings and outdoor spaces, clearing fence lines, picking rocks, sticks, or weeds from fields, gardening, shovelling snow, and a wide variety of seasonal ranch jobs.

Horses are an important part of life at the ranch, but caring for them is a much larger part of the experience than riding them. Helpers may assist with feeding, grooming, handling, cleaning paddocks, moving fences, and other aspects of horse care. Riding opportunities may occasionally be available for experienced riders whose skills, attitude, and safety awareness are a good fit, but riding is not a regular part of the Workaway exchange.

Although much of the ranch’s purpose is centred around hosting family wellness and healing programs, our Workaway helpers support the ranch by keeping the farm running behind the scenes. Helpers do not work directly with participating families or children as part of their role.

Because we work in a healing environment with vulnerable families, we ask all helpers to have a sober lifestyle while staying with us.

If you have special skills, we would love to hear about them. Experience in carpentry, farming, mechanics, gardening, construction, or livestock care is always appreciated. At the same time, enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude are every bit as valuable—we are happy to teach people who are eager to participate.

    Unterkunft

Our accommodations are simple, reflecting life on a working Yukon ranch. The cabins do not have running water, and we use outhouses. A nearby pump house, just a short walk from the cabins, provides hot showers and laundry facilities.

The ranch is located about 40 km from the nearest community. There is no public transportation, and trips to town are infrequent, so helpers should be comfortable living in a remote rural setting.

This Workaway is best suited to people who enjoy a quieter pace of life, appreciate nature, and are happy spending time surrounded by forests, mountains, wildlife, and wide-open spaces. If you value simplicity, don’t mind getting your boots dirty, and enjoy being away from the rush of city life, you’ll likely feel right at home here.
