We are nestling in the mountains in a clean, small and friendly city. Loja is a very friendly city and considered the music capital of Ecuador and there are weekly free events in one of the town squares and a number of bars playing live music and hosting poetry evenings, language exchange get togethers etc. As Loja is small and safe most people walk to the city center. Taxis cost $1.25 a trip and buses 30 cents. There are a number of open air organic markets, one within 5 mins walk of the school. Half an hour away is Malacatos and Vilcabamba where locals supposedly live to over 100 years old. About an hour away is Zamora and the gateway to the Jungle and Peru is 6 hours away. The temperature here is temperate spring like most of the year.
