  Hello, we are a community of Achuar people from Ecuador, located on the banks of the majestic Pastaza River, near the border with Peru. We live in harmony with our environment, yet we are not far from the basic needs faced by development. As a community, we are committed to the development of our people and want to promote a volunteer project focused on education, health, and sustainable development. We are looking for caring people, eager to share and learn, who can support us with basic classes for children, health, tourism, and eco-friendly solutions. In return, we offer lodging, local food supplies, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in our culture, learn about the jungle, and be part of a process of real change. If you have social sensitivity, a love of nature, and a collaborative spirit, this project is for you.
  
  Hola, somos una comunidad pertenecientes a la nacionalidad Achuar del Ecuador, ubicada a orillas del majestuoso río Pastaza, cerca a la frontera con Peru. Vivimos en armonia con nuestro entorno, sin embargo no estamos muy lejamos de las necesidades basicas que enfrenta el desarorollo. Como comunidad nos comprometidos con el desarrollo de nuestro pueblo de tal manera queremos impulsar un proyecto de voluntariado enfocado en educación, salud y desarrollo sustentable.
  Buscamos personas solidarias, con ganas de compartir y aprender, que puedan apoyarnos con clases básicas para niños, salud, turismo, y soluciones ecoamigables. A cambio, ofrecemos alojamiento, proviciones de alimentación local y la oportunidad de sumergirte en nuestra cultura, aprender de la selva y ser parte de un proceso de cambio real. Si tienes sensibilidad social, amor por la naturaleza y espíritu colaborativo, este proyecto es para ti.

  Our community offers a deeply enriching cultural exchange, based on an ancestral worldview that honors the harmony between humans and nature. Through time spent with their families, visitors can learn about sustainable practices, traditional medicine, Amazonian spirituality, indigenous languages, and community organization systems that have endured for centuries. Sharing with the Achuar people is not only an opportunity to discover a living and resilient culture, but also to reflect on more balanced, supportive, and respectful ways of life for the natural environment.
  
  Nuestra comunidad ofrece un intercambio cultural profundamente enriquecedor, basado en la cosmovisión ancestral que honra la armonía entre el ser humano y la naturaleza. A través de la convivencia con sus familias, los visitantes pueden aprender sobre prácticas sostenibles, medicina tradicional, espiritualidad amazónica, lenguas originarias y sistemas de organización comunitaria que han perdurado por siglos. Compartir con el pueblo Achuar no solo es una oportunidad para descubrir una cultura viva y resistente, sino también para reflexionar sobre formas de vida más equilibradas, solidarias y respetuosas con el entorno natural.

  Arbeit

  Our community needs volunteer support in three main areas:
  
  🔸 Education: We are looking for people who can help with basic classes for children and young people in reading, writing, Maths, and English. We also value skills in art, music, or sports, as well as basic use of technology for education. Being a professional teacher is not required, but patience, creativity, and commitment are.
  
  🔸 Community Health: Our community faces limitations in accessing basic healthcare. Therefore, one of our main goals is to implement a small community health center that can offer first aid, preventive counseling, and basic healthcare. We are looking for volunteers with health expertise, including nurses, medical students, and especially general practitioners, who can support us in the creation and implementation of this space. In addition, we need people who can teach workshops on hygiene, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, as well as assist in the training of local health promoters.
  
  🔸 Sustainable Development: If you have experience or interest in Agriculture, Permaculture, Green Building, Biology, Communications, Renewable Energy, and many other areas, your help will be very valuable. We are working on the sustainable development of our community.
  
  
  Nuestra comunidad necesita apoyo voluntario en tres áreas principales:
  
  🔸 Educación:
  Buscamos personas que puedan ayudar con clases básicas para niños y jóvenes en lectura, escritura, matemáticas e inglés. También valoramos habilidades en arte, música o deportes, así como el uso básico de tecnología para la educación. No se requiere ser maestro profesional, pero sí paciencia, creatividad y compromiso.
  
  🔸 Salud comunitaria:
  Nuestra comunidad enfrenta limitaciones en el acceso a atención médica básica. Por eso, uno de nuestros principales objetivos es implementar un pequeño centro de salud comunitario que pueda ofrecer primeros auxilios, orientación preventiva y atención médica básica.
  Buscamos voluntarios con conocimientos en salud, incluyendo enfermeros, estudiantes de medicina y especialmente médicos generales, que puedan apoyarnos en la creación y puesta en marcha de este espacio. Además, necesitamos personas que puedan impartir talleres de higiene, nutrición, salud sexual y reproductiva, así como ayudar en la formación de promotores de salud locales.
  
  🔸 Desarrollo sustentable:
  Si tienes experiencia o interes en Agricultura, Permacultura, Bioconstrucción, Biología, Comunicadores, ¿Energías Renovables y muchas mas areas tu ayuda será muy valiosa. Estamos trabajando en el desarrollo sostenible de nuestra comunidad.

  The cultural exchange with the Achuar nationality represents a unique opportunity for linguistic immersion. Achuar, the ancestral and native language of our people, is a pillar of their cultural identity and a gateway to our worldview. Volunteers and visitors have the opportunity to learn words, expressions, and forms of communication unique to our Amazonian culture, while sharing their language with the children and adults of the community. Please note that most of the people in the village speak Achuar and Spanish, no English. El intercambio cultural con la nacionalidad Achuar representa una oportunidad única de inmersión lingüística. El Achuar, lengua ancestral y materna de nuestro pueblo, es un pilar de su identidad cultural y una puerta de entrada a nuestra visión del mundo. Los voluntarios y visitantes tienen la posibilidad de aprender palabras, expresiones y formas de comunicación propias de nuestra cultura amazónica, mientras comparten tu idioma con los niños y adultos de la comunidad.

  Unterkunft

  The volunteer accommodation is a cozy rustic cabin built with typical local materials, designed to offer comfort within a natural setting. It features two simple but functional bedrooms, a shared living and dining room, and an indoor kitchen equipped for daily use. There is also a traditional kitchen outside.
  We provide food from our own crops such as bananas, cassava, fish and some fruits. However, the volunteers must bring complementary food from the city such as rice, oil, salt, sugar, and other products that we don't have here.
  
  El alojamiento para los voluntarios es una acogedora cabaña rustica construida con materiales típicos de la zona, pensada para ofrecer comodidad dentro de un entorno natural. Cuenta con dos habitaciones sencillas pero funcionales, una sala-comedor compartido, y una cocina interior equipada para el uso diario. Además, en el exterior se encuentra una cocina típica tradicional.
  Nosotros proporcionamos alimentos de nuestros cultivos como son plátanos, yuca, peces y algunas frutas más. Sin embargo los voluntarios deben traer alimento complementario de la ciudad como es Arroz, Aceite, sal, azúcar, y etc de productos que acá no tenemos.

  This community is located deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon, which offers a life experience immersed in nature and far from urban amenities. Access is by canoe on the river. There are no supermarkets or pharmacies nearby, so it's important to bring basic groceries (pasta, rice, tuna, candy, etc.), usually non-perishable food items that will last your stay, personal hygiene items, insect repellent, sunscreen, a flashlight, a basic first-aid kit, rubber boots, and personal medications. Electricity can be limited (depending on solar panels or generators), and internet access or cell phone signal is scarce or nonexistent, which encourages a true digital disconnection. The climate is hot and humid, with frequent rains. It's recommended to be vaccinated against yellow fever and to be cautious with water (bring filters or water purification tablets).
  
  Beyond these logistical details, the experience offers a deep connection with the jungle, the Achuar culture, and a unique opportunity for learning, collaboration, and personal growth.
  
  
  Esta comunidad se encuentra en el interior de la Amazonía ecuatoriana, lo que implica una experiencia de vida inmersa en la naturaleza y lejos de las comodidades urbanas. El acceso se realiza en canoa por río. No hay supermercados ni farmacias cerca, por lo que es importante traer, alimentos basicos (pasta, arroz, atun, golosinas, etc) por lo general alimentos no perecibles que duren tu estancia, artículos personales de aseo perosnal, repelente, protector solar, linterna, botiquín básico, botas de caucho y medicamentos personales. La electricidad puede ser limitada (dependiendo de paneles solares o generadores) y el acceso a internet o señal de celular es muy escaso o nulo, lo cual favorece una verdadera desconexión digital. El clima es cálido y húmedo, con lluvias frecuentes. Se recomienda estar vacunado contra la fiebre amarilla y tener precaución con el agua (Traer filtros o pastillas potabilizadoras).
  
  Más allá de estos detalles logísticos, la experiencia ofrece una profunda conexión con la selva, la cultura Achuar y una oportunidad única de aprendizaje, colaboración y crecimiento personal.

  This project has some limitations for digital nomads who need to work online, as there is no constant internet access or cell phone signal. However, it's perfect if you're looking for a digital disconnect and a culturally immersive experience in the heart of the Amazon. Este proyecto tiene un poco de limitaciones para nómadas digitales que necesiten trabajar en línea, ya que no hay acceso constante a internet ni señal de celular.   We have adequate camping space in the community, ideal for those who prefer to live closer to nature. However, due to the remote location, RVs and vehicles can only reach a nearby point on land; from there, access to the community is only possible by canoe on the Pastaza River. Please let us know so we can arrange logistics. Contamos con un espacio adecuado para acampar en la comunidad, ideal para quienes prefieren vivir más cerca de la naturaleza. Sin embargo, debido a la ubicación remota, las autocaravanas y vehículos solo pueden llegar hasta un punto cercano en tierra firme; desde ahí, el acceso a la comunidad es posible únicamente en canoa por el río Pastaza.
