  🌈 Community Teaching 📚 & Gardening 🌱 Exchange in Koh Jum, Thailand 🌈
  
  We are a small, heart-driven community project on the beautiful island of Koh Jum, offering two ways to be part of our exchange: supporting English classes at all three local schools and/or helping in our very big paradise garden.
  The children are incredibly curious, kind and motivated, and even a little bit of English practice can make a big difference for their future opportunities ❤️
  
  Participants stay with us in our shared house, eat together and become part of everyday island life. In exchange, we ask for around 5 hours a day helping either in the garden or in the classroom (mainly through conversation and playfulness) and simply being present with the kids.
  
  As we are not government-funded, we ask for a small contribution of €10 per day to cover food costs only. Local food prices here are higher, as Koh Jum is a rather undeveloped island and all food has to be transported here by local boats. This cost-sharing helps keep the project alive and sustainable for the local community.
  
  This is a cultural and educational exchange based on mutual respect, learning and connection.

  Volunteers have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the local Thai culture while contributing to our community. Located on the peaceful island of Koh Jum, our project connects you with local children and families, offering a warm and welcoming environment. You’ll engage in meaningful work, teaching English, art, and computer skills to students, while also participating in daily activities like cooking and gardening at our home.
  
  Volunteers can enjoy traditional Thai meals, learn about local customs, and experience the island’s way of life firsthand. We often organize social activities, such as cooking together, visiting local markets, or exploring the beautiful natural surroundings. By working closely with the kids and the local community, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Thai culture while sharing your own.
  
  This exchange is not only about teaching but also learning from each other. We hope to foster friendships, cultural understanding, and lasting memories with our volunteers from around the world.

  Warum erlaubt Workaway manchen Gastgebern, eine Gebühr zu verlangen?

  
  

  Workaway bietet Möglichkeiten für einen nicht-monetären kulturellen Austausch, bei dem Gastgeber Workawayern im Gegenzug für ihre Hilfe Verpflegung und eine Unterkunft zur Verfügung stellen. In einigen Ausnahmefällen kann eine kleine Gebühr/Spende (in der Regel nicht mehr als 5 Dollar pro Tag) an Gastgeber genehmigt werden, z. B. für registrierte Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen, die in der Vergangenheit viele positive Rückmeldungen von Volunteers erhalten haben. Jegliche Gebühren müssen direkt an die Wohltätigkeitsorganisation gehen und dürfen nur zur Deckung der Verpflegungskosten für die Volunteers verwendet werden. Dies wird im Angebot des Gastgebers deutlich gekennzeichnet.
  

  Angebote von Vertretern, „Mittelsmännern“ oder Projekten, die den Anschein erwecken, Profit aus dem Aufenthalt eines Volunteers zu schlagen, sind strengstens verboten. Jegliche Gebühren müssen im Voraus mit dem Workaway-Team besprochen und von diesem genehmigt werden.
