  I am a figurative sculptor living in rural North Carolina next to Penland School of Craft looking for support in the studio and with building projects on my property. I am excited to share my own practice as well as the richness of the local artists and the unique beauty of this special place.

  This is a great opportunity to learn about the business and practice of figurative ceramics, experience the idyllic setting of Penland and help build a place where creativity and wellbeing go hand in hand. The local area is rich with makers and outstanding options to experience the outdoors through hiking and rafting. I am also from Puerto Rico and can offer a full immersion experience of Spanish.

  Arbeit

  I am a figurative sculptor living in rural North Carolina next to Penland School of Craft where I manage a property with a studio. In the studio I make and fire ceramic sculpture, teach visiting students throughout the year and create online courses, all activities I am looking support with that would engage a wide spectrum of skills. The property at large is over an acre and I would also like help with the construction of simple, comfortable dwellings and glamping sites for visitors and interns. The range of skills I can accommodate is pretty varied and in general includes having any (or more!) of the following: experience with ceramic sculpture, experience with anatomical modeling, video skills (filming, editing), construction skills, and landscaping.
  
  UPDATE! Beginning in March 2022, I will prioritize Workawayers with construction skills and digital skills (video editing, website development) as I start renovating my new studio and prepare to offer several online courses. In addition to our food and lodging arrangement, I will offer a space where you can learn and practice ceramics with materials and demonstrations included. Please reach out with any questions!

  There are several accommodation options available with private room and shared bathroom as well as camping options.

  This area is stunning, filled with trails and a 3 minute drive from the river. There are innumerable studios to visit and because of the proximity to Penland School, a beautiful gallery and coffee shop to enjoy. We are also an hour from Asheville, a mecca for all things handcrafted and a fun, a small city to explore with good eats. There are shuttles available from both the Asheville as well as the Charlotte airport. A car is helpful but not necessary.
