… read more teaching me how to make and preserve tomato sauce and for all the amazing stories that we shared together. Sam, I thank you for your generosity and for teaching me how to build the irrigation system for the garden. There is a variety of jobs that are needed to be done around the house and the farm, but they will give you jobs that best suits your skills and are more then willing to teach you new ones as well.
The place that they stay in is located in a beautiful town that is surrounded by nature. During your free time, you can visit the village, have a hike to the sanctuary or catch a bus to town where you can relax and enjoy the beach.
No words can describe how grateful I am that I had the opportunity to stay with them. I wish you all the best and that your dreams of building the beautiful retreat come true. I definitely recommend coming to this place to everyone!

Some of our best meals were eating great homemade vegan pasta that she produced. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen leading and supporting in a variety of meals. This was really appreciated. Giulia our door is always open to you and we hope that you will be able to visit us again.

This was my first workaway experience and stayed for two weeks. Sam and Rowena were very welcoming and so were all the other workawayers. There was a maximium of five other workawayers when I was there and when one left another soon came. However, I believe normally they will have less workawayers staying.
A normal day would consist of meeting
… read more at 7am where Sam would read from the Bible and discuss the plan for the day. We would have an hour for breakfast at 8:30 and then continue working until 1pm. We had a number of different tasks which included weeding the vegetable patch, using a strimmer to clear land, working with the irrigation system of the olive and almond trees, watering plants, helping in the kitchen, using power tools to remove adhesive from the bathroom. I'm very grateful that they let me do a lot of differents things as I hadn't really any experience working on a farm or using power tools.
The meals cooked by Rowena were all very delcious and definitely well needed after working all morning. I never went hungry while I was there!
The village is quite small but the people are very friendly. Behind the house there is a mountain with a sanctuary on top which is a nice climb with a spectacular view.

I've stayed at sam and row house for 2 weeks in company of other 4 guys from ireland, netherlands, us and britain. We spent good times all toghether working during the morning, having siestas in the afternoon and sharing our life experiences in the evening.

Their place is gorgeous: a big old fashioned villa surrounded by kilometres of nature: it's the perfect location where you can help, have the time to think and enjoy the peacefullness of the spanish inland.

They are caring people who checked on the workawayers regularly to make sure we were OK for example if we needed picking up from the airport or decided to go for a very late night hike up some mountains. … read more itself was not challenging but the majority of tasks were maintaining the property rather than related to organic farming or assisting with healthy living projects. I am sure it will be different when volunteering and there will be guests at the retreat taking classes etc.

Sam and Rowena run a small, home-based retreat whereas I expected something bigger, and more in development with more projects to contribute to. Despite having discussed this upfront, the situation did not match with my expectations, so I take that as a lesson with me for the next time.
I've helped them with pouring concrete for the carport, using the strimmer, weeding, irrigation, almond cracking, in the kitchen, doing research on exporting their (organic) olive oil and how to connect with the vegan community and discussing my personal feedback on my stay.
I wish Sam and Rowena all the best and lots of luck and fun while sharing their life with others, developing the retreat and helping the people that come to visit them.

The farm is so peaceful with stunning views and I loved being engaged in a wide variety of activities from planting and weeding, picking, juicing and pasteurizing oranges, to processing almonds from their shells into almond milk and almond butter and helping round the house. Sam and Rowena kindly dropped me and collected me from the bus stop to do some travelling mid-stay, too.
