  Nestled between lush green hills, our home is an 18-hectare piece of preserved paradise. Crystal-clear waters flow through the property — a river fed directly by the nearby Serra do Tabuleiro State Park — bringing life, freshness, and a deep sense of connection with nature. Native forest, open spaces, birdsong, clean water, starry skies, and countless corners waiting to become gardens, gathering spaces, children's adventures, and dreams brought into reality. 15 minutes from the beaches of Garopaba, on the edge of Serra do Tabuleiro State Park — the river that flows through our land is born there.
  
  We are two founding families who share a dream: to create an intentional community where children occupy a central place in village life — a place where living itself is the practice.
  
  Years ago, our paths crossed while living together in a spiritually oriented intentional community. That experience taught us invaluable lessons about shared living, cooperation, and collective responsibility. At the same time, we felt a longing for something more — a place where childhood itself would be honored and protected; where children could grow surrounded by nature, freedom, meaningful relationships, and a true sense of belonging.
  
  One of our families spent a year traveling through New Zealand through Workaway, exchanging skills, learning from hosts, and experiencing the beauty of cultural exchange and community life. The other spent two years living nomadically, visiting self-directed learning centers, connecting with homeschooling and unschooling families, and having deep conversations with founders of intentional communities around the world.
  
  Everything we experienced shaped the dream now taking root here.
  
  At the heart of everything we are building is a question: what does it look like to live from the inside out? We call this self-direction — the capacity to listen to one's own inner truth and orient life from there, taking responsibility for one's choices and their impact on the collective.
  
  For the children, this means freedom to explore, to play, to follow their curiosity without being rushed into predetermined paths. Education here is not outsourced — it is lived, alongside nature, real relationships, and the rhythms of the land.
  
  For the adults, it means ongoing inner work, spiritual practice, honest communication, and the courage to live by values rather than convention. We see community not as a destination but as a daily practice — one that requires emotional maturity, the willingness to face difficulties together, and genuine care for something larger than ourselves.
  
  We are also committed to the land itself. We plant food, build with natural materials, restore native forest, and learn from ancestral wisdom and the rhythms of nature. We see the earth not as a resource to be used, but as a living being to be cared for — for ourselves and for future generations.
  
  We are not building a perfect community. We are building an honest one.

  Aninhada entre morros verdes exuberantes, nossa terra é um paraíso preservado de 18 hectares. Águas cristalinas percorrem a propriedade — um rio alimentado diretamente pelo Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro — trazendo vida, frescor e uma profunda sensação de conexão com a natureza. Mata nativa, espaços abertos, cantos de pássaros, água limpa, céu estrelado e inúmeros cantos esperando se tornarem hortas, espaços de encontro, aventuras das crianças e sonhos se tornando realidade. A 15 minutos das praias de Garopaba, na borda do Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro — o rio que percorre nossa terra nasce por lá.
  
  Somos duas famílias fundadoras que compartilham um sonho: criar uma comunidade intencional onde as crianças ocupam um lugar central na vida da aldeia — um lugar onde o próprio viver é a prática.
  
  Há alguns anos nossos caminhos se cruzaram enquanto vivíamos juntos em uma comunidade intencional de orientação espiritual. Essa experiência nos ensinou lições inestimáveis sobre convivência, cooperação e responsabilidade coletiva. Ao mesmo tempo, sentíamos um anseio por algo mais — um lugar onde a infância em si fosse honrada e protegida; onde as crianças pudessem crescer cercadas de natureza, liberdade, relações significativas e um verdadeiro sentido de pertencimento.
  
  Uma das nossas famílias passou um ano viajando pela Nova Zelândia pelo Workaway, trocando habilidades, aprendendo com anfitriões e vivenciando a beleza da troca cultural e da vida comunitária. A outra passou dois anos em vida nômade, visitando centros de aprendizagem autodirigida, conectando-se com famílias de homeschooling e unschooling, e tendo conversas profundas com fundadores de comunidades intencionais ao redor do mundo.
  
  Tudo que vivemos moldou o sonho que agora está enraizando aqui.
  
  No coração de tudo que estamos construindo há uma pergunta: como é viver de dentro para fora? A isso chamamos autodireção — a capacidade de escutar a própria verdade interna e orientar a vida a partir dela, assumindo responsabilidade pelas escolhas e seus impactos no coletivo.
  
  Para as crianças, isso significa liberdade para explorar, brincar e seguir a própria curiosidade sem ser apressada para caminhos predeterminados. A educação aqui não é terceirizada — ela é vivida, ao lado da natureza, de relações reais e dos ritmos da terra.
  
  Para os adultos, significa trabalho interno contínuo, prática espiritual, comunicação honesta e a coragem de viver por valores e não por convenção. Vemos a comunidade não como um destino, mas como uma prática diária — que exige maturidade emocional, disposição para enfrentar as dificuldades juntos e cuidado genuíno com algo maior do que nós mesmos.
  
  Também temos um compromisso com a própria terra. Plantamos alimentos, construímos com materiais naturais, reflorestamos e aprendemos com os saberes ancestrais e os ritmos da natureza. Não vemos a terra como um recurso a ser explorado, mas como um ser vivo a ser cuidado — por nós e pelas gerações futuras.
  
  Não estamos construindo uma comunidade perfeita. Estamos construindo uma comunidade honesta.

  While the long-term vision of this project is held by the two founding families, everyday community life is already being enriched by other families and close friends who are gradually drawing nearer to this dream. Some join us regularly for shared meals, ceremonies, celebrations, children's play, and collective care. Others are exploring the possibility of becoming part of this future village.
  
  So although the village is still in its early stages, you won't simply encounter two families building in isolation. You'll experience a living and evolving community field — woven slowly, intentionally, and through genuine relationships.
  
  For us, community is not something that suddenly appears once the infrastructure is complete. It is built day by day: through shared work, laughter around the table, children running freely together, difficult conversations honestly held, celebrations, spiritual practices, and the willingness to care for something larger than ourselves.
  
  Because children are at the heart of our village, volunteers also play a meaningful role in their learning journey. We believe children learn through real life — by observing, participating, asking questions, and engaging with people of different ages, cultures, and experiences. Rather than separating education from daily life, we see the village itself as a living learning environment.
  
  You are invited to share whatever gifts, passions, and knowledge you carry: music, storytelling, woodworking, gardening, languages, crafts, cooking, photography, ancestral knowledge, or simply the stories of your own life and culture. Often, the most valuable learning happens naturally — around the dinner table, while planting in the garden, fixing something together, or exploring the river.

  Embora a visão de longo prazo deste projeto seja sustentada pelas duas famílias fundadoras, a vida comunitária cotidiana já está sendo enriquecida por outras famílias e amigos próximos que vão se aproximando gradualmente deste sonho.   Arbeit

  We ask for around 4–5 hours of contribution per day, 5 days a week, always with flexibility and mutual respect. Tasks may include:
  • Garden and agroforestry care
  • Natural building and land maintenance
  • Cooking and sharing meals
  • Support with children's activities
  • Creative or communication projects (photography, video, social media)
  • General care of our shared spaces
  
  Following the practices we cultivate within our community, we also create regular check-in moments throughout your stay. Every few days, we set aside time to reflect together on how the exchange is unfolding: what is working well, what could be adjusted, what support may be needed, and how everyone is feeling within the experience.
  
  We see these conversations not as evaluations, but as opportunities for mutual learning, honest communication, and shared care. They help us co-create an experience that feels nourishing, meaningful, and aligned for everyone involved.
  
  This experience is probably not for you if you're looking for tourism, beaches, and nightlife — Garopaba is nearby, but the invitation here is for presence and roots.

  Vemos essas conversas não como avaliações, mas como oportunidades de aprendizado mútuo, comunicação honesta e cuidado compartilhado. Elas nos ajudam a co-criar uma experiência que seja nutritiva, significativa e alinhada para todos os envolvidos.
  
  Essa experiência provavelmente não é para você se está buscando turismo, praias e vida noturna — Garopaba fica perto, mas o convite aqui é de presença e raízes.

  You'll sleep immersed in nature — in a tent with mattress and blankets provided — under starry skies, next to a river that flows with spring water born in the Serra do Tabuleiro State Park. We have shared bathrooms, a communal kitchen, solar energy, and spring water throughout the land. Simple living, abundant nature.
  
  We offer 3 daily vegan meals, prepared with care and shared together. Most of our food is organic. Much of it comes directly from our garden and our banana grove — yes, we have an abundance of bananas! Our kitchen is gluten-free and plant-based, grounded in natural, seasonal ingredients and the ancestral wisdom of eating close to the earth.
  
  If you are a family without availability to work, we are open to discussing other forms of exchange — accommodation and meals can be part of a different kind of agreement. Reach out and let's talk.
