Hello!
We are a group of four people: Wolfi (31), Helen (31), Lutz (32) and Vera (31) and and two dogs. We bought a farm in the beautiful valley of Kainsbach in Northbavaria 30km east of Nürnberg and moved here in January 2024. The farm buildings stood empty for 6 years and we are here to create an organic farm and this means a lot of work, where we can need your help!
14ha forest with own springs and 13ha field and grassland with old fruit trees belong to the farm. Right now we only cultivate the forest and the fruit trees - but will start cultivating the fields this autumn!!
We own chickens for self-supply and grow some vegetables and mushrooms in the garden.
Our vision for the farm is growing vegetables, holding sheep, baking bread in a wood stove, growing mushrooms, cultivate more fruit trees and nut trees and do youth welfare in context with the farm.
The farm is located in the little village Kainsbach. Around Kainsbach you find yourself immersed in beautful hills with rocks and valleys - beautiful beech forests, small clear streams and amazing traditional cultural landscapes! Perfect for hiking, climbing and riding a bike. Closeby is the Pegnitz Valley, where you can also go canoying. For hot summer days we can offer a lake you can reach in 15 Minutes walk and go for a swim (Happurger Stausee)! Hersbruck is a beautiful small town 10km away from Kainsbach. There you can find a train station from where you reach the bigger citys Nürnberg (15 min), Regensburg or Bayreuth.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
We are four young people who would like to get to known other people from other countries. We are interested in other cultures and other languages and also share our culture :)
Our project is a great opportunity to get to know what it means to start an organic, community supported farm from the very beginning and we would like to share this with other people from around the world. This includes not only the diverse practical work, but most of all the legal, social and economic process (and difficulties) connected with this. We have a big network of farms and organizations, and have already brought a former workawayer to make a internship at a nearby vegetable farm ;)
We also wish to further strengthen a network of people that push the rural life in a positive direction!
On the other hand we are very curious about impulses from people - also from abroad. About their jobs, life decisions and also ideas that we might not have spot on. We get caught up in our construction and farm work and think it is refreshing to have people here that have a different daily life or lifestyle!
We are looking forward to after-work evenings at the barnfire, sunset walks and swims in the lake with you!Arbeit
We are still in the beginning phase of this projekt, so we are not yet a full functioning farm.
Still, we have plenty of things where we need help:
- cleaning up around the farm, taking care of the leftovers from the last century in the barn (i.e. sorting and organizing old lumber, dismantling old, not anymore usable pieces of equipment)
- help putting the place into shape (cut bushes and branches from overgrown trees, make garden beds)
- some help with further development of outdoor spaces like our (already existing) compost toilets
- cooking
...
There also already some farm-like things to do, depending on the season:
- making firewood
- harvesting apples in autumn and berrys in summer
- cleaning the chicken-house
- help with cutting bushes on the edge of the woods
If you are interested in and organic life style and you don't care getting dirty then you fit perfectly to us. We are professional farmers and vegetable gardeners, so you can also learn about that in conversations and what it means to establish an organic farm from the very beginning.
We will try to do tasks together with you, but sometimes we have to do paperwork and some of us also go to work outside the farm, so you should be able to also work alone sometimes. But we are four people, so there will always be someone around.Sprachen

The hilly area is beautiful for hiking and the rocks here are very popular for climbing. There is a lot of water around here, lakes, rivers and a lot of creeks, so perfect for swimming or canoeing. Nürnberg is not too far, you can reach it easily by train.
