Beschreibung
Hi, I’m Ria.
I’m a mother of three daughters, a teacher, traveller, and community enthusiast living with my family in Karangploso, a village near Malang, East Java. I love talking about Java, its history, culture, food and the values of Javanese family life.
My three daughters have very different interests. My eldest studies Philosophy at Gadjah Mada University; my second loves science, metaphysics and Japanese; and my youngest loves photography, cinematography, German and Italian.
Watching them grow has made me realise how much exposure shapes a child’s dreams. They have had opportunities to meet different people, learn languages, travel and discover possibilities beyond our home.
As a teacher, I see many children in my village who don't have the same opportunities. This is what I call dream disparity.
That is why I welcome Workawayers. Your stories, culture, language and experience can open a window to a wider world for our children and help them imagine their own future.
But you won't only teach.
You will share, learn and live with us. Experience Javanese family life, share meals, cook together, visit local markets, learn our traditions, and become part of our village community.
You bring your world. We share ours. -

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
🌏 A cultural exchange goes both ways.
Living with our family gives you a chance to experience everyday Javanese life and have meaningful conversations about how we see the world.
You can learn about:
🍚 Indonesian and Javanese food, cooking and family meals
🏡 The values of Javanese family life and community
🌿 Village life and how people support one another
🧵 Local traditions, batik, music and traditional arts
🗣️ Indonesian language and everyday expressions
🙏 Our perspectives on religion, family, relationships and life
💭 The way we think about happiness, purpose and everyday life
We are open to conversations about life, beliefs and different ways of seeing the world. You can share your own perspective too — there is no need for us to always agree.
For us, cultural exchange is about being curious about each other.
You bring your world. We share ours. 🌏❤️ -

Arbeit
We’d love to welcome travellers who enjoy spending time with children and getting involved in village life. 🌿
You can help us with:
🗣️ English activities — conversation, games, stories and fun activities with children.
🌏 Cultural exchange — sharing your language, culture, country and personal experiences.
📸 Photo & video — helping us create simple photos and videos for our social media and community projects.
💡 Community school projects — sharing ideas and helping us create meaningful activities with the children.
🎨 Creative activities — art, music, sports, crafts or anything you enjoy.
✨ Your own ideas — if you have a skill, hobby or project you’d love to share, we’re happy to explore it together.
You don’t have to be a professional teacher. Just come with an open mind, some curiosity and a willingness to share. 🤝
You bring your world. We share ours. 🌏❤️ -
