Beschreibung
We moved from the UK in 2005 when we found and restored an old farmhouse (Quinta) . We have our own vineyard with 6000 vines for our own consumption and for our extended family and friends ,in the center of the Dao wine region. The property has an area of 7 hectare with the river Pavia ,with kingfishers and otters often seen, along one part of the property. We have two dogs Lottie and Socks We also have 2 cats.
We have our own chickens (for eggs) ducks and geese.
We have a large veg garden where we grow most of our fruit and veg for the year. We make all sorts of jams ,chutney and wine vinegar. -

Arbeit
We would welcome 2 / couple, someone strong as some strength is needed, to help with the vines, our vegetable , fruit garden and some tree maintanance .
Strimmer/ weed whacking knowledge would be useful, plenty of tree /logging tasks to do. An understanding on how to prune fruit and Olive trees would be a great asset in the spring
The help is ongoing throughout the year.
We have a small traditional vineyard for our own consumption and for our extended family and friends. We have 3 vineyards with a total of just over 6000 vines with 4 varieties of red grapes. (1.4 ha) In the vineyards you will learn how we tend the vines and also be involved in Wine tasting, blending the varieties and then bottling.
Diverse things like small tractor driving (cutting the grass in the fields) to learning how we smoke foods in our traditional whole oak smoke house.
You will have opportunities to cook (this is optional but in the past we have had Workawayers enjoying the fun making new menus from ideas brought with them) and learn the making of many local dishes as well as jams and chutneys.
You will often go off with one of us when we go to shop for provisions.

Hugh and Jane are great hosts to work with and they are enthusiastic about teaching others how to work their land. We stayed with them briefly but learnt a lot about the vineyard and wine making and enjoyed our afternoon with the barrels. Kirstie will miss Zero and Lottie very much.

Claudia and Helena spent two weeks with us and as Claudia mentioned Hugh was taken ill with Peritonitis and spent some time in hospital. We had several projects but had to put these on hold. The help with the washing,ironing and cleaning was superb. Thank you both so much.PS Hugh out of hospital 14th March on the mend now!
