Help out in the garden or with maintenance and household tasks on El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands

  Hello, my wife Aminata and myself, Kitabo, live on El Hierro, the smallest island on the Canary Islands. Our house is in the countryside, 10 minutes walking from the next small village. We live on the north side of the island, on about 680m altitude, so the temperature is very mild and it doesn't get too hot. In the winter it can get cold and windy (minimum temperature +7 degrees Celsius). We have a big garden where we also plant vegetables, we have fruit trees, grapes... Then we also have chicken, a cat and our dog Sally. I am an artist, so I spend a lot of time painting, either at home or out in nature. Or just framing my paintings. My wife is Yoga instructor and has plenty of classes throughout the week. My wife and myself, we are both German, but we have been living in Spain for over thirty years, so we both speak Spanish, German, English and French. Both of us are vegetarian, so it would be good that the person coming is also vegetarian or could adapt to such a diet. Also we have preference for non-smokers.

  During free time you can participate in Yoga if there is a spot free in the classes, or paint with me. You can go hiking, there are many nice trails and the nature is amazing. Or you can walk to the next village and take a bus and go to the sea. Hitch-hiking is also very common on the island. Usually we talk German at home, so if you are learning German this can be very useful. We can also help with the Spanish. The island is very quiet and with little population (about 7000 inhabitants). The landscapes are amazing, there is not much tourism, what makes it even more special.

  Arbeit

  The help we would require would be maximum 5h a day, 5 days a week and the tasks would be either helping out in the garden, cleaning out or planting, general maintenance tasks in the house like painting, maybe cooking if you like the kitchen or helping me, if you are handy, with framing my paintings. You can see one of my paintings below. If you know how to make a website, I could also need one, but we are flexible with the tasks.

  Unterkunft

  Your accomodation would be a nice room, which is a small one-room house, just beside our house. The toilet and shower are shared. We have wifi, but as we are outside of the village, it is portable wifi with not that many GB. It is enough for WhatsApp or normal communicating, but not enough to spend evenings on Netflix for example :)
