We are sorry but for later dates we cannot confirm any stay at the moment. But you can ask anyhow and we will message you if we need crew spontaneaously.
This is a traditional, three-masted tall ship, 52 metres long, run by a non-profit organisation.
In the summer months we do sail training with school classes and other youth groups, in the winter time the ship is berthed in Hamburg-Harburg and we do all the maintenance work! Most of it we do ourselves - we, that is a bunch of sailors who are somehow addicted to this old ship.
In winter time we have plenty of space, as there is no group on board, so normally there are 3 to 15 people on board working on different projects to keep this fantastic ship and project running.
If you have sailing/craft skills (or learn them in the winter time on board) you could my be also join us as part of the crew in the summer months on the baltic sea!

A real maritime atmosphere! You will learn all about living and working on a real sailing ship! You will get to know the crew, mostly germans from all over germany. You can visit Hamburg, with all what this diverse city can offer.
As a traditional ship with a workshop we have almost every craft on board, so you will learn a lot about working with steel (and rust :) ), wood, ropes or sails besides the daily housework like cooking and cleaning we do shared.
In the winter time we need to remove a lot of rust. But there are also some more complex tasks going on, so you will be able to learn a lot, depending on what we do at the time you come. (For example putting on the sails in spring)
You will sleep in a real bunk! If there are more than ~8 people on board (mostly on the weekends) you will have to share the cabin with other volunteers. The food will be cooked jointly.
We have one fantastic cats living with us!
