I'm Emily, a fun-loving, enthusiastic, and committed person who loves to help. I consider myself more empathetic than the average person, always trying to anticipate what other people might need. I usually put others first because I just want to make the world a better place! My motto in life is that everyone is fighting something, and at the end of the day, everyone deserves to be happy. So, I try to spread positive vibes as much as possible!
I'm originally from a tiny town in Maine, USA. I got a scholarship for college in New York, and moved out of the US after graduation to move to my current home "base" in Istanbul, Turkey. After working and living abroad for the past 10 years, I've finally decided I'm happiest when living an alternative lifestyle. I am normally working online as a freelance writer for a few hours a week to fund a lot of traveling.
I started hosting workawayers of my own in 2019-2020, so if you're curious about my now retired host profile, you can check it out here: .

Help around the house
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
I speak several languages between us and can also help you improve your English, Turkish, Spanish, or Kurdish.
I'm also happy to teach you a little violin, give tips about freelancing, or read your tarot. I have a vast knowledge of politics in Turkey and the region!
We probably don’t have a lot of time to show you the area, but I may be able to join you for adventures. My home is within close distance to everything in Istanbul, really.
I need an individual who can help us with various tasks around the house. This may involved attempting to fix things, painting, cleaning, etc.
I’d also especially appreciate your help spending time with the cat, if there is a cat around. We probably won’t ask for more than 2 hours of help per day, but it could change depending on our schedule and how eager you are to lend a hand.

You’ll get a room to yourself. I can provide towels, bed linens, pillows, and hopefully anything else you’ll need during your stay. Unlimited wifi, Netflix, Nintendo Switch...
For your food, help yourself to stuff for breakfast. Beyond that, Emily loves to cook and will be happy to provide one free meal per day (lunch or dinner) on days where you work at least two hours.
You’ll have a lot of free time and I don’t mind what you do with it. I'm an experienced Workawayer (see: ) and I know the importance of alone time. Before you arrive, I’ll provide a rough schedule of what type of help I need according to your skills and interests. I pride myself on good, clear communication and making guests comfortable. Don’t hesitate to ask me anything for clarification, too!
I do expect you to be clean and tidy as a member of our home. I keep the house very clean and I don't want to be cleaning up after you, so do your best to contribute please!
