Description
We (Swiss/Dutch couple with 4 children) bought a beautiful and remote piece of land on the island of Vis 11 years ago, with the intention to build a home for our family. Our property is 1.5ha in size and located on the steep northwest side of the island. This side of the island has been abandoned more than 70 years ago and all that is left are a few ruins. All the terraces were once used to grow grapes but are now completely grown over by dense bush and pine forests. Obviously this means a lot of work clearing the land but also offers endless possibilities for creative solutions!
House sitters needed for July/August!!
In 2025 we are also planning to..
- building a stone house
- work on a hiking trail
- plant more trees
- increase the size of our garden
- clear more land to establish a vineyard and food forest
- making a cob floorTypes of help and learning opportunities

Help
At the moment we are particularly looking for a nanny for our children that is also keen to stay long term!
But we are also always in need of people with building (especially carpenters and woodworkers) or gardening skills. People who do not mind to get their hands dirty and work hard of course are always welcome as well!
We would also like to invite homeschooling/unschooling families and of course Au pairs are always more than welcome as well!Languages

What else ...
Vis is one of the most remote islands in Croatia and also regarded as one of the most beautyful in the Mediterranean. There are endless possibilities for swimming, kayaking, hiking and exploring the island.
However our location is remote and it takes a 40min walk (20min by car) to the next village and a 40min hike to the next beach. For campervans keep in mind that our access road is a 6km gravel road!A little more information
Internet access
