    Description

** Please note we only offer seven days or less, not long stays.
    **
We are a family of three living in the South West of Sydney, near the Georges River. The area is great for walks, the station is 16mins walk away and we are 23 minutes by train from Central station in Sydney. We love Oatley, our hidden leafy suburb, which is like a little village. We travel a lot, love inter-cultural conversations, and have wide interests. Our home is lovely and quiet with a pool. From time to time we need help with household tasks as work and school can become very busy. Your home is the Cabana/granny flat next to the pool. Your help would be highly valued.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are interested in helping workawayers understand the public transport system (we are deeply involved as a family) and guiding any questions about Australia. We are also plugged into the dancing and choir communities, and latin culture and Chinese culture. We are keen to host people who speak Dutch or French or Spanish as members of our family are learning all those languages, but this isn't first priority. Just meeting one another is.

  • Help

    Help

Gardening, cleaning tasks that we don't get to often enough, home improvements, decluttering or sorting and filing, home maintenance. Our goal for you is to leave our place better than when you found it - and we'd ask of you to be keen, interested with a sense of any task, big or small, has it's fun and satisfying elements. For us it's all about clear expectations both ways.

We'd provide food and you'd prepare it for yourself for two meals a day, and the third meal would either be you cooking for us or us cooking for you. We'd work out a routine (and if you cook for us that would be part of your work hours).

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

A cabana in the garden is fully equipped and is next to the pool. You would be sharing of the pool with our family. The cabana does not have curtains all round, but is private enough as it faces the pool. There is a small bathroom and a kitchenette (microwave, kettle, toaster) and the workawayers would be able to use the kitchen in the main house, working out when would work for the family. The bed is a queen and is super comfortable. Suits one person or a couple.

PLEASE NOTE that sometimes the Cabana is not available. We would then discuss the option of you staying in a spare bed in the house with a shared bathroom. This is unusual but could be a possibility at certain times.

Food provided for breakfast and lunch. Dinners can be shared with the family or provided for you to warm up in the Cabana. We would make agreements about how best to make it work. You might cook, we might cook. We'd talk about what works. Part of your task could be to cook and freeze some meals for our family.
