Description
Our place needs 2 kayak guides for 2025. From mid May until 31st of August (you don't need to be here the whole duration). The main work is to be kayak guide (driving, guiding, cleaning the kayaks, maintain the everything). You will have 5 to 9 guided tours per week (depending on high season, low season and the amount of guests in the area). One tour is 3 hours, and you will be paid for 4 hours per tour.
A typical day: 9.30 o'clock - pick up kayak rental guests. Drive 10 minutes. Kayak with guests until 12. Lunch break with guests until 1230. Drive them back. Then reset everything back to perfect conditions. The work is paid. We offer housing. Your own house - amazing standard, you pay for the house.
Being fluent in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish is a big advantage to get the job.
We need two guides. It's an benefit if you know each other well.
We have top ratings from previous workers. You will feel Norwegian culture by living in a traditional, yet top modern Norwegian house. In your spare time you will also have possibilities to experience the real Norway, mountains, fjords and wilderness - in contrast to the big cities, which could have been any European country.
What We Offer
During your stay, you’ll have the chance to:
Learn about local traditions, customs, and ways of life (this will also be a benefit for you, as a guide)
Develop hands-on skills related to nature guiding, sustainable tourism, and hospitality.
Most of our guests are English speaking, but some guests are Norwegian - it’s a opportunity to learn some language, if you wish (no pressure)
How We Interact
We have daily dialogue with the guides, ensuring you feel confident in your work, giving you top tools and knowledge about guiding and kayaking. Sometimes we share meals, or work side by side on various projects. We encourage open discussions, new ideas, and collaborative learning. The team is small. Two guides (possibly you and a friend). You may have the opportunity to teach or train new staff, in case you don’t sign up for the whole summer.
What We Hope to Learn from You
Every Workawayer brings a fresh perspective and knowledge that enriches our project. We are always eager to learn from your experiences, whether it’s a creative approach to problem-solving, or insights from your own culture.
Our Commitment to Cultural Exchange
Workaway is about more than just lending a hand—it’s about meaningful connections and learning. While your contribution is valuable, we ensure that Workawayers are here to enhance and support our project, not replace locally hired staff. Anyway, getting local hired staff is very hard, as few people live here. We strive to create an inclusive and educational environment where everyone benefits from the exchange.

Help
Our tour leaders ensure that everything runs smoothly, and that our guests have a great time on tour, day in and day out. As the face of our company, candidates must have exceptional customer service skills, be extremely organized, and be able to work well both as part of a team and individually. Our staff wear many hats: guide, confidant, problem solver, conversationalist, leader, caregiver, and general rock star. Those are the obvious qualifications, but no less important is the ability to work flexible hours and have a strong sense of team pride.
Tour leaders are initially trained on one or two tours, and as your expertise and competency grows so does the portfolio of activities you can lead. While guides spend the majority of time out on tour showing our customers a great time, they also spend time helping with answering calls and emails, a bit office work, maintenance, driving and more.Languages spoken

An entire house alone. The house has very good standard.
What else ...
Olden/Stryn is a great place for outdoor adventure (climbing, hiking, biking, swimming, etc). This is the number one place the big celebrities go to, when they visit Norway. You live 8 minutes’ drive from the center of Olden (a small village). Public transport is not frequent, but you have access to one eBike and one normal bike.

The job was to transfer people from the town (Olden) to the kayak rental place. In between the transfers there is lots of free time to relax and enjoy the place. I liked to use the kayak myself. When I had enough of relaxing, there… read more
