    Description

I'm a retired person living on a five acre lifestyle property with a couple of dry stock, and assorted ducks, chooks and a much loved dog. I'm enjoying a slice of the good life, trying to live a simple, low impact lifestyle, growing and preserving my food, recycling, repurposing and living a more sustainable life while still enjoying my large screen tv, internet and barbecuing a steak.

My home is 13 kms drive from Hawera township, has panoramic views of our mighty Mt Taranaki surrounded by a rural landscape. My desire is to have a property which attracts native birdlife, is a pleasant place to sit and reflect and a home to enjoy when my children and grandchildren come to visit.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I have been involved in a number of community organisations and workplaces over the past 30 years and feel i am able to share a love of this region and its people with confidence. I love the cultural history of the Taranaki area and can show or direct the Workawayers to areas of cultural and historical significance. In addition, I am a creative person who loves art and creativity, knows artists and galleries around the Maunga, and can provide a studio on the same property for those who in their spare time, wish to paint or create or simply reflect in a quiet, sunny space with a beautiful view.

  • Help

    Help

I am after some help with planting and landscaping. I have a pretty little pond with a part pathway and surrounding planting that needs development and I would love to see completed.

I have a number of DIY projects both inside and outside - including painting and wallpapering, building a small garden shed or painting fences, shifting firewood etc. so depending on your skills and interests we can find a good balance.

Taranaki gets a lot of weather with both high rainfall and high sunshine hours so somedays you may need to wear your raincoat or on other days a sunhat. There are indoor projects if the weather is atrocious.

    Accommodation

Clean and comfortable, queen sized bed with access to own shower and toilet facilities. Share living areas and kitchen. Wifi available. My sweet, well behaved and gentle border collie dog will befriend even the most reluctant dog lover. She is an inside dog who is quiet and placid and part of my family.

I eat a normal, balanced diet of meat and vegetables with cereals and fruit. And quite like the special treats of pav and cream, chocolate and an odd glass of cider. There are two supermarkets in Hawera only 10 minutes away by car if you wish specialty dietary items to suit your needs.

Self help breakfast and lunch, happy to cook a night meal or provide the makings if you wish to picnic in any of the wonderful, scenic spots around our wild west coast.
