It has been a real pleasure working with Colette, in such a beautiful house project. The tasks required were varied, with a good range of tools and equipment to help achieve the desired result. The work was rewarding and I very much appreciate being able to contribute to the project! Tasks were discussed and ideas shared in order to get the best outcome. The town of Passavant is small, with only a fromagerie and boulangerie amongst the houses, but Baumé-les-Dames and Besançon are not far by car for a change of scenery. Colette is also very helpful in advising places to visit in the local area and we were able to explore together on our days off.
Colette is an amazing woman, whose drive is inspiring and we shared many great conversations about the world, lots of lovely meals and also some language exchange. I really hope that our paths cross again in the future!Vom Host für Workawayer (Leo)

Leo was here with Twiglet, a well behaved and friendly dog – very well trained and obedient, it’s clear that Leo invested a lot of time and dedication to get these impressing results.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Victor)
The week with Victor has been so special, we had to put up with very bad and cold weather and had to work in the house most of the time. Victor accepted this situation and did work in the barn, in the house and in the workshop – after one day in the garden where he weeded an overgrown space.
For the barn he constructed a shelf with a door made of
… read more reclaimed wood, the task was difficult, as nothing in an old barn is straight – and all the materials were the same. Victor found practical and creative solutions and finally installed the shelf which is exactly what was needed.
To try to construct a really original toilet paper holder was another challenge and we discussed a lot about that and Victor found the perfect solution.
… and he fetched lots of logs from the cellar - we really needed them…
Victor cooked a wonderful dinner – and of course we had a good time discussing and exchanging while we had this hot meal in the warm kitchen.
Victor is interested in so many subjects and brings a lot of thoughts and knowledge into all conversations – I really learned a lot about Canada and the life of a young man who is actively on his way.
I highly recommend Victor, he will help you and will be really good company. He is fun and really kind, he is always trying to find out what is needed.
Thank you Victor for this interesting time and I wish you the best for your summer in Europe, welcome to Passavant on your way back!

I think the other reviews speak for themselves pretty well, so I'll try to keep this short - Colette is the best host you can ask for. The house is incredible, and even after years of renovation, there is still so much work to be done! Work was fun and exciting but never stressful. I was supposed to be mainly gardening, but due to unseasonably cold and rainy weather, I ended up working inside, building a shelfing unit for the barn and we even found the time to squeeze in making a toilet paper roll holder out of an old wine box on my last day! Colette provided the perfect level of guidance, and she even asked to hear my ideas for every project she gave me. There is work here for almost any type of interest, and Colette will make sure to play you to your strengths and interests. But of course, more than anything else about the work I just enjoyed doing anything I could to help Colette, and I think you'll understand if you come here.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Such a great experience it was to spend some time with Colette, I couldn't ask for anything better for my first Workaway!

She explained what needs to be done and you are free to choose one task and even switch between them, so you don't get too tired or bored. The job is really easy and you can do it by yourself or with someone else. She also took us to really nice places nearby, so we could explore and get to know the region and local culture. We shared our meals, cooking together and many hours during and after lunch/dinner chatting, which was one of my favorite moments!
It was so nice that we did not even realized that those 2 weeks passed so fast.
Thank you Colette for this wonderful time together, you made my time in France very special and unforgettable.
I wish you all the best and look forward to meeting you again!
The time with Steph in early springtime was so good – she settled easily into our group and added a new view for me to unknown countries.

All my best for you Steph, I hope you will find new friends and experiences along your way, you deserve it!

What a friendly, positive and kind person Evelyn is!
She came to an unknown place, and it was no problem for her to settle in and find her way around the house.

Evelyn did all of it with a smile and

Weeding, installing little lights in the garden, cutting down hedges – she did it all.

Evelyn is interested and open minded and that makes her such a nice and caring person – you will be happy to have her!
All the best for you, Evelyn, and I hope to see you again!

I stayed with Colette in her Beautiful 16th century house for two weeks during the start of spring, and I can 100% say that it was a very memorable and great experience.
I found Colette's work away when looking for last minute hosts in the area for me and my friend to stay with. What hat stood out to me is how open Colette was in her profile to

There was a large variety of work to be done around the house and I felt very welcome to do what I felt comfortable with, like labor with fixing a falling garden wall by moving stones and digging a small trench or cleaning around the house. More so, I felt comfortable at Colette's place with trying things I haven't done before, like getting a robot lawnmower operational, fixing it's perimeter wires or using a weed wacker.
I love learning new skills, and Colette made me feel comfortable to to try and fail and try again.
Above all, coming here, I am sure you will meet a wonderful, thoughtful and understanding person.
Colette was very open and she loves to learn more about you and your stories and tell about her experiences in life and her stories.
She had brought me and the other two workawayers to many of her favorite places around, and will surely listen to your ideas and recommendations. You will truly feel like family getting tasks done and cooking meals, rather than coming to work for someone you don't know.

After a happy season with a lot of wonderful workawayers, Miriam was such a joy

So if you consider to do work away at her place, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't be happier. one week I stayed with the lovely host Colette and the Danish workawayer Marianne. I felt at home from the first day. The two weeks with An were so special! When she came, there was already a lovely workawayer here and she found very quickly her place in our little group.

An – I wish you the very best - and we will meet again!
Three weeks with Colette, other Work-awayers, and guests in her old, old house, some of it from 1549 was a joy. Colette has an ability to show you that you are welcome, and that she is interested in who you are. She opens up, discusses, and shows also who she is. I can strongly recommend every part of this place.
A fun fact: this little village has a pizza-automat. And that’s the truth.
Marianne stayed in Passavant for more than 3 wonderful weeks. Starting with a younger student from Switzerland, followed by another woman from Belgium we had a lovely time and Marianne was a beautiful person to be with for all of us.

In this time my English understanding got much better, there was so much to follow and to understand!

Our visit to Dôle was extended to a visit of Besançon by herself – not to be brought to the train station, because she wanted to hike the 16 kilometers by herself!
In the evenings meals were always prepared by everybody and the time on the terrasse with lovely food will stay in my memory as special moments shared with friends.
Everybody who gets the chance to have Marianne as a workawayer is lucky!
Thank you Marianne for this wonderful time
