Yvonne and Michael stayed with us in November 2024. Although we cannot offer the most comfortable conditions in winter, yet, there adjusted pretty well. Shayn and I stayed for two weeks with Sonja, Dennis, Barbara, Henry and Bruno. We had the most fantastic cultural exchange! This was our first workaway and it exceeded all expectations. … read more instructions, let us work independently, invited us to all social events over the two weeks, which included a pub quizz, a bbq and bonfire party with outside ping pong and singing around the fire, an outside movie night, and when it got cold we played different board games in the evening.
The work was varied and not hard. Shayn and I got to help pick pears and apples in the orchard, prepare and dry fruit, crack walnuts, sand back kitchen shutters, and cut a lot of wood and tried to stack it in the german Beehive fashion.
Shayn and I enjoyed staying in the outside accommodation and we liked cooking in the outside kitchen.
I can only recommend these lovely people - we hope they come to see us in NZ some day, and we hope to visit again in the future. We had three great weeks with Alec. It felt like having someone new living with us. We spend time together but he also organized himself some trips. Alec was very handy. He did every task we gave him and accelerated a few of our projects.
Beth was staying with us for a week. She is a very open, easy to talk to, person. Having her around was very nice. She helped with some fruit picking, carrying stuff around, babysitting and some house work.

Staying here was an amazing experience! Everyone was super sweet and Bruno was just adorable. The work-life balance was very nice, and they accommodated me when I was feeling sick.
