Description
Hi, my name is Farouk. I run a new English course with two other friends, Yasin and Ridho. We also work as teachers in local schools and universities. As English teachers, we often get frustrated by schools and universities when they focus so much on grammar while students are not able to maintain a conversation in English. We think a better, more fun way of learning is possible. So we really need your help with several projects:
• We are in the process of purchasing a house. This house will be the perfect location for our new English café. We need foreigners to provide speaking practice with our students in a laid-back environment. Hopefully you can connect with our students and take away their fear of speaking English and having conversations with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
• We also organize outdoor activities with our students during school holidays and we would love it if you can join. We can explore the city, go hiking, visit nature areas, etc. During those excursions, we to get our students to enjoy, relax and become comfortable in using English.
• There are several schools and universities we can take you to. Foreigners are rare in this part in Indonesia, so it will be a special occasion for the students where they can practice their English and learn about a different culture.
• We always love to know more about new cultures, about the differences and similarities between our ways of life. We hope you can show us a new perspective.
Most of all, with your presence here we want to show students that foreigners are normal, good people just like us despite our cultural differences and that there’s no need to be shy. Instead, we can all become good friends.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist us in teaching English, either in our English course or at the university where we work. The task isn't challenging; all we want to do is learn a few basic foreign languages and cultures. Therefore, they don't have to be certified teachers or have prior teaching experience.

I believe that smile is an universal language. Tough, the 'lost in translation' session can be avoided by knowing more about appropriate ways in behaving when we meet foreigners. I can tell that the similarity in finding friendship and peace throughout the world is always being missed. We are waiting for you guys to come and find new chapter of brotherhood in the neighbour 😊🙏Accommodation
1. We provide a place to stay, in a house adjacent to ours. It comes with a fan, free limitless Wi-Fi, a plush mattress, and two separate bathrooms.
2. We provide free daily meals (three times a day), normally at home or in the cafe; we eat local rice, vegetables, soup, poultry, fish, beef, and so on; alternatively, we can cook together to try your own local cuisine. You are welcome to utilize the kitchen for any additional needs you may have.
3. We don't charge our volunteers anything.What else ...
As one of the biggest islands in Indonesia, Sumatra is very rich in culture and natural resources. Oil and gas, as well as the beauty of nature, are somewhat different aspects of the world that are rarely seen in other places. This unique and different situation gives me and my team a friendly and sincere invitation to fellows all over the world to come and experience the hospitality of our hometown in Pekanbaru, Riau. I believe that the spots that are spread all over Riau will provide an unforgettable, amazingly fun adventure for our guests.
Living at our place, the new experience provides hospitality by doing various activities together, such as cooking foods, hanging out, visiting schools and motivating students, and doing sports such as silat, kickboxing, and others. We can also go to various forests and, if we are lucky, eat local fruit straight off the trees.
During your days off, we can go to nature, such as fishing along the river, swimming in local waterfalls, hiking, camping, etc. But it depends on the place you’d like to visit. Some are easy to reach directly by car, and some are a few kilometers from the parking lot. So be ready for a long walk. To get to some of these spots, you still have to walk down the cliff, and the paths aren’t very easy to walk on.
We can visit nearby towns on your day off. If you like more challenge, we need an extra day for a drive of 3 to 5 hours to visit a mountainous area in West Sumatera.
How to reach our place
If you are visiting my town in Pekanbaru by plane, you can choose the flight to International Airport Sutan Syarif Qasyim II Pekanbaru-Riau. My house is only around 30 minutes from the airport. Before your arrival, please let me know; I'll be happy to pick you up at the airport.A little more information
